Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iRiver IPF550 / IPF990 / IPF595 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HA603048)
This is a 3.7V, 950mAh lithium-polymer replacement battery for the iRiver IPF550, IPF990, and IPF595 portable media players. It matches the original HA603048 cell on voltage, capacity, and connector spec. When the original cell degrades and the player can no longer hold a charge through a full listening session, this replaces it directly.
- IPF550 / IPF990 / IPF595 compatibility: These three models share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout, and all run off the same 3.7V single-cell supply rail. The HA603048 form factor — 50.30 × 30.00 × 5.80mm — fits all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the IPF platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without error flags, voltage regulation held steady through audio output, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold rather than allowing an uncontrolled cutoff.
- First charge after installation: Media players in deep discharge protection mode often reject a normal charge current immediately after a cell swap. Connect the player to its charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power it on — this allows the trickle charge stage to bring the cell above the BMS re-entry threshold.
Battery percentage jumping after swapping the HA603048 cell
The IPF series uses a voltage-threshold method to estimate state of charge. After a cell swap, the player's internal reference points no longer match the new cell's discharge curve. You'll see the percentage counter jump, skip, or read 100% until the player drains close to empty. Run two full charge and discharge cycles without interruption and the indicator will recalibrate to the new cell's actual voltage profile.
Playback cutting out before the battery indicator reaches empty
The audio amplifier circuit in these players draws a short high-current burst when output voltage is pushed. Near the end of discharge, a degraded or undersized cell can't sustain that burst without voltage sagging below the amplifier's minimum operating point — so playback stops even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. This battery matches the original 950mAh rating, which keeps the cell above that sag threshold through the full discharge curve. If cutout still occurs, check that the cell connector is fully seated, as a loose contact adds resistance and worsens sag at the same draw level.

Frequently Asked Questions
My iRiver IPF550 won't turn on after sitting in a drawer for months — is the battery dead or just flat?
Almost certainly a deep discharge protection state, not a failed cell. When a lithium-polymer cell drops below roughly 2.5V from prolonged storage, the BMS locks out normal operation to prevent cell damage. Plug the player into its charger and leave it connected for 30 to 45 minutes without pressing anything — the trickle charge stage needs to bring the cell back above 3.0V before the device will power on.
The battery percentage on my IPF595 drops from 40% straight to 1% — what's causing that?
The IPF series estimates charge level by reading cell voltage against a fixed lookup table. After extended use, the original cell's voltage curve drifts away from that table, causing the indicator to skip large chunks of the scale. A new HA603048 cell restores the correct voltage curve, but the player still needs two full uninterrupted charge-to-discharge cycles before its internal reference recalibrates to the new cell.
I replaced the battery in my IPF990 but it still gets warm during charging and stops charging at around 80% — what's wrong?
Heat during charging typically means the charge controller is working against a cell with elevated internal resistance. If the replacement cell was stored for a long time before installation, internal resistance can be higher than normal at first. Run the cell through a full discharge to the auto-cutoff point, then charge it completely — internal resistance drops after the first full conditioning cycle, and the charge controller should then reach 100% without excessive heat.
