Fits LG Soul Digital media player model HHF-120T, replacing OEM battery HHF-120T.
1.2V Ni-MH at 1200mAh supplies sustained current for extended playback sessions without voltage sag interruptions.
AA form factor with flat contact terminals; slides into original battery compartment with positive contact on spring terminal.
Bench testing shows stable voltage ramp on initial charge cycle with no BMS cutoff; Ni-MH chemistry accepts trickle current without fault codes.
After installation, insert the battery and connect the charger immediately — the Soul Digital enters deep discharge protection after extended storage and needs 30 minutes of slow trickle charge before accepting normal playback current.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LG Soul Digital / LGRM-37 — 1.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HHF-120T)

This is a 1.2V, 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the LG Soul Digital and LGRM-37 portable media players. It matches the original HHF-120T cell specification and fits the same battery bay. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to complete a full listening session.

  • Soul Digital and LGRM-37 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay geometry, voltage rail, and HHF-120T cell footprint. One battery services either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Soul Digital platform. The protection circuit responded correctly at both ends — no false cutoff at low voltage, no overcharge flag at full.
  • Post-swap charge cycle: After fitting a new Ni-MH cell, run a full charge before playback. A fresh cell sitting unmatched in state-of-charge to the player's fuel gauge can trigger an early shutdown before the indicator reaches empty.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap in the Soul Digital

The Soul Digital reads battery level by tracking voltage thresholds across the Ni-MH discharge curve. A new cell has a different resting voltage than the depleted one it replaced, so the player's estimate is immediately out of sync. The indicator may jump between levels or read full when the cell is partially charged. Run two complete charge and discharge cycles and the player's threshold mapping recalibrates to the new cell's actual curve.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

The audio amplifier in the Soul Digital draws a sharp current spike during loud passages. Near the end of a Ni-MH discharge curve, internal cell resistance rises and voltage sags under that spike. The player interprets the sag as a low-voltage fault and cuts audio even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. This is a cell-age and load interaction, not a firmware fault. A new cell at full charge holds voltage under the amplifier load — confirm the resting voltage is at or above 1.2V before dismissing a cutout as a player defect.

Frequently Asked Questions

My LG Soul Digital won't turn on after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead too?

After extended storage, a deeply discharged Ni-MH cell can drop below the voltage threshold the player needs to boot. The player appears dead even with a new battery installed. Connect the charger and leave it for 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the cell needs a slow trickle to climb above the boot threshold before the player will respond. If the screen still shows nothing after 30 minutes, check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated.

The Soul Digital shows a full battery icon right after I charged it, then drops to empty within a few minutes of playback — what's happening?

This is a voltage-threshold calibration issue after a cell swap. The player's charge indicator is mapped to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell, not the new one. Run the new cell through two full charge-to-discharge cycles without interrupting either one, and the indicator will track the actual cell capacity correctly. Do not top up mid-cycle during those first two runs.

My Soul Digital worked fine, but now it restarts itself randomly during playback — is this a battery fault?

Random restarts during playback point to a momentary voltage drop that trips the player's under-voltage reset circuit. In Ni-MH cells, internal resistance increases as the cell ages, and a sudden current draw from the audio amplifier causes a brief voltage sag. If the sag crosses the reset threshold, the player reboots. Check whether restarts cluster near the end of a charge — if they do, the cell is the cause. Replace the cell and confirm the resting voltage reads at or above 1.2V with a multimeter before installing.
