Fits Victor XM-C3-G media player; replaces OEM part number BN-R129.
1.2V, 1200mAh Ni-MH cell restores full playback duration on this portable audio device.
Flat connector orientation matches factory pack; no modification needed for slot fit.
Bench testing shows stable voltage curve across discharge cycle with no premature cutoff.
After install, charge slowly for 30 minutes before powering on—media players enter deep discharge protection after storage and need trickle voltage to accept normal charge current.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Victor XM-C3-G Series — 1.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BN-R129)

This is a 1.2V, 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Victor portable media players. It fits the XM-C3-G, XM-ZX3-P, XM-C11-R, XM-PX33, and one additional model sharing the same BN-R129 specification. Use it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the player fails to power on.

  • XM-C3-G and related models: These players share the same battery bay dimensions, connector orientation, and 1.2V rail requirement. The BN-R129 form factor — 66.78 × 16.70 × 5.96mm — fits all listed models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on compatible hardware. The BMS accepted a standard trickle charge from a depleted state and stepped up to normal current without triggering a protection cutoff.
  • First charge after installation: Victor media players can enter a deep-discharge protection state after extended storage. Connect the player to its charger immediately after installing the new cell and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the device needs that initial trickle current before it will accept a normal charge cycle.

Media player not waking after extended storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge over time, and Victor players running on the BN-R129 will drop below the minimum voltage threshold the device needs to initialise. When that happens, the player appears completely dead — no screen, no response to the power button. The protection circuit blocks normal charge current until the cell voltage rises above roughly 0.9V. Connect the charger and wait 30 minutes before pressing power; the trickle charge phase brings the cell back into the range where the player can boot normally.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap

After fitting a new BN-R129, the on-screen battery indicator may jump between levels or read full then drop suddenly. Victor players estimate charge state by tracking voltage thresholds, and a fresh cell has a different discharge curve than the worn cell the firmware was last calibrated against. This settles after two or three full charge-to-empty cycles. Run the player down until playback stops, then charge fully to 1.2V — repeat twice and the indicator will stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Victor XM-C3-G won't turn on even after charging overnight — what's wrong?

The player has likely entered a deep-discharge protection state, which blocks normal charge current when the cell voltage drops too low. Overnight charging with a flat cell doesn't always recover it because the charger may not be supplying the slow trickle current needed first. Disconnect, wait two minutes, then reconnect and leave it for 30 minutes before pressing power. If the screen still won't respond, check the charger output — it needs to deliver at least 1.2V to the cell to begin recovery.

Playback cuts out suddenly even though the battery indicator still shows charge remaining — is the cell faulty?

The audio amplifier inside these Victor players draws a short burst of higher current during playback, and a Ni-MH cell near the end of its discharge curve can't sustain that draw without voltage sagging below the amplifier's cutoff point. The battery indicator uses a simple voltage threshold and lags behind actual capacity, so it can still show one or two bars when the cell is functionally empty. This isn't a faulty cell — it's the cell reaching true depletion before the indicator catches up. Charge fully and run two complete discharge cycles to recalibrate the threshold.

The battery percentage on my XM-C3-G jumps around erratically after I fitted the new BN-R129 — is something wrong with the replacement?

Nothing is wrong. The player's charge indicator was calibrated to the discharge profile of the old, degraded cell. A fresh Ni-MH cell holds voltage more consistently across its discharge curve, which confuses the threshold-based meter. The display will stabilise after two or three full charge-to-empty cycles on the new cell. Charge to full, run the player until it shuts off on its own, then repeat — the indicator tracks correctly once the firmware has seen the new cell's actual voltage behaviour.
