Fits ROC Digital 14003 rocbox 20GB media player, OEM part ABC4B20232111111.
3.7V lithium-ion at 1200mAh delivers stable voltage throughout playback without sudden shutoffs.
Connector seats flush into the original battery slot with no locking tab required.
We bench-tested this cell in the rocbox platform — BMS accepted the pack on first connection with no fault delay.
After installation, let the device charge for 30 minutes before powering on if it sat unused for months, as media players enter deep discharge protection that requires slow current acceptance.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ROC Digital 14003 rocbox 20GB — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ABC4B20232111111)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh lithium-ion battery for the ROC Digital 14003 rocbox 20GB portable media player. It replaces OEM part ABC4B20232111111 directly. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or the device refuses to power on.

  • rocbox 20GB platform fit: The rocbox 20GB uses a fixed-voltage 3.7V single-cell architecture. This battery matches that voltage rail, connector pinout, and physical envelope — 52.39 × 34.53 × 6.04mm — so it seats correctly in the battery bay without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the rocbox platform. The onboard protection circuit responded correctly to end-of-charge cutoff and low-voltage cutoff, and the device read charge state without errors.
  • Post-storage charge routine for the rocbox: If the player has been sitting unused for months, connect it to the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button. The rocbox enters a deep-discharge protection state below roughly 2.5V — it will not respond to power-on until the cell has trickle-charged back above that threshold.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on the rocbox 20GB

The rocbox 20GB uses a voltage-threshold method to estimate charge level — it has no dedicated fuel gauge IC. After fitting a new cell, the device maps voltage readings it has never seen against its stored lookup table. That mismatch causes the percentage indicator to jump or read incorrectly for the first several charge cycles. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles and the indicator stabilises as the player learns the new cell's discharge curve.

Playback cutting out before the battery shows empty

The audio amplifier in the rocbox draws a short burst of higher current at the end of each track, particularly at higher volume levels. When the cell is near the bottom of its charge, that current spike causes the terminal voltage to sag below the protection circuit's cutoff threshold — around 2.7V — and the device shuts off even though the indicator still shows a bar or two remaining. Turning the volume down by 20–30 percent extends usable playback time from a near-depleted cell. If the problem appears at a full charge, the original cell has degraded and a replacement cell will resolve it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My rocbox 20GB won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for six months — is the battery dead?

Not necessarily dead — it's likely in deep-discharge protection. When the cell drops below approximately 2.5V from long storage, the protection circuit locks the battery out and the device won't respond to the power button. Connect the charger and leave it alone for 30 minutes before trying to power on. If the player still doesn't respond after that, the original cell has discharged too far to recover and needs replacing.

The battery percentage on my rocbox jumps from 40% straight to 10% — what's happening?

This is a voltage-threshold calibration issue, not a faulty cell. The rocbox estimates charge level by reading cell voltage against a fixed lookup table, and a new or recently replaced cell doesn't match the curve the player has stored. Run two or three complete charge-to-discharge cycles without interrupting them partway, and the indicator will track accurately. No reset or service action is needed.

My rocbox cuts out mid-track near the end of the charge — but the battery indicator still shows one bar.

The audio amplifier pulls a brief current spike at each track transition and at high volume, which drags terminal voltage below the 2.7V protection cutoff even when the indicator hasn't reached zero. Lower playback volume by around 25 percent to reduce that spike and get usable charge from the remaining capacity. If the cutout starts happening well above empty or at low volume, the cell has aged past its useful life — replace it with a fresh 1200mAh cell.
