Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BCI Capnocheck Plus — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (58522B1)
This is a 6V 5000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the BCI Capnocheck Plus capnography monitor. It also fits the Sleeo CO2 Monitor, 58450A1 Mini-Torr Plus, and 6004 Blood Pressure Monitor. Use the OEM part number 58522B1 to confirm fitment before ordering.
- Capnocheck Plus platform fitment: These devices share a 6V Ni-MH cell configuration with a common connector and BMS handshake protocol. The battery management system on each model expects the same charge termination signal — negative delta-V — which Ni-MH chemistry delivers at full charge. Swapping chemistry type will cause charge faults.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Capnocheck Plus platform. The BMS accepted the battery without fault codes after the first full charge cycle. Charge termination triggered correctly at capacity, and the monitor reported battery status accurately from cycle two onward.
- Post-swap power-on sequence: After installing this battery, allow the Capnocheck Plus to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification step at startup. Cutting power during this sequence generates a battery fault flag that persists until the next clean reboot — it is not a defective cell.
Why the Capnocheck Plus reports low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The Capnocheck Plus BMS calibrates its state-of-charge reading against stored data from the previous cell. A new Ni-MH pack has not yet established a charge history in that register, so the monitor reads the cell's initial internal resistance as low capacity. This is a BMS learn-cycle issue, not a fault with the cell itself. Running one complete charge-discharge cycle resets the register. After that cycle, the low-battery alarm clears and the monitor reads capacity correctly.
Device not completing boot sequence after battery sat in storage
Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per day in storage. A battery left uncharged for several months can drop below 5.0V — the threshold at which the Capnocheck Plus BMS will not initiate a boot sequence at all. The monitor appears completely dead, but the cell is recoverable. Connect the device to mains power and leave it charging for a minimum of four hours before attempting to power on. Once the cell climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, the boot sequence completes normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Capnocheck Plus is alarming low battery right after I finished charging the new battery — is the cell bad?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The BCI Capnocheck Plus BMS stores charge history from the previous cell, and a brand-new Ni-MH pack has no history in that register — the monitor reads elevated internal resistance as low capacity and triggers the alarm. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the device before drawing any conclusions. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm stops.
The monitor powers on but shuts off unexpectedly during a patient reading — what's causing that?
In the first 10 cycles, a new Ni-MH cell has not yet reached full electrochemical conditioning, so its voltage sags more sharply under the sustained load of continuous CO2 waveform processing than a broken-in cell would. The BMS interprets that voltage sag as a depleted pack and cuts power to protect the device. Charge the battery fully, run two or three complete charge-discharge cycles, and the sag under load will reduce. Do not use the battery in clinical settings until those conditioning cycles are complete.
The charge indicator on the Capnocheck Plus never reaches 100% on the first charge — should I stop and restart?
Do not interrupt it. The Capnocheck Plus charge IC applies a conservative current limit on cells it has not yet profiled, which extends the first charge cycle and holds the indicator below 100% longer than usual. Interrupting the charge resets the IC's profiling process and can cause the same conservative behaviour to repeat. Let the first charge run to full termination — the device signals this with a status change on the indicator. From the second charge onward, the IC applies the correct rate and the indicator reaches 100% in the expected time.
