Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BioControl Air Sampler MAS-100 — 10.8V Ni-Cd Replacement Battery (110518-U)
This is a 10.8V, 1800mAh Ni-Cd replacement battery for the BioControl MAS-100 microbial air sampler and compatible MAS-AC-6009 and MAS-AC-7009 units. The MAS-100 is a medical-grade instrument used in pharmaceutical and laboratory environments for airborne particle collection and contamination monitoring. It replaces OEM part number 110518-U and matches the original cell chemistry, voltage, and physical footprint.
- MAS-100, MAS-AC-6009, MAS-AC-7009 compatibility: All three models share the same 10.8V battery rail, connector type, and BMS handshake protocol. The pump and collection mechanism draw from the same power circuit, so a single battery specification covers all variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the MAS-100's full charge and discharge sequence. The BMS accepted the cell, completed voltage verification, and logged no fault codes after one full cycle.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installation, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The MAS-100 runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this step logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
BMS learn cycle on first use in the MAS-100
The MAS-100's battery management system calibrates its charge thresholds against the actual cell it detects. A new Ni-Cd cell has not yet completed a calibration cycle, so the BMS applies conservative limits on the first charge. This means the device may show a lower-than-expected state of charge until the first full charge-discharge cycle is complete. Run one full cycle before using the sampler in a scheduled monitoring session — after that, the BMS reports accurately.
Charge indicator stalled below 100% after first installation
On a new Ni-Cd cell, the charge IC in the MAS-100 applies a reduced current limit until it confirms the cell's internal resistance profile. If the indicator stops climbing before 100%, the charge IC has not yet completed its first learning pass. Do not remove the battery — leave it connected and let the charge cycle finish without interruption. Once the first full charge reaches completion, subsequent cycles will reach 100% consistently. Confirm the cell is fully charged by checking for the steady charge-complete indicator rather than the percentage readout alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MAS-100 is alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge — why?
The MAS-100's BMS compares the new cell's voltage signature against a stored threshold calibrated for a conditioned cell. A fresh Ni-Cd cell hasn't completed its first learn cycle, so the BMS flags it as low even when fully charged. This clears after one complete charge-discharge cycle on the device. Run that cycle before your next scheduled monitoring session and the alarm will not repeat.
The MAS-100 won't power on after the replacement battery sat unused for several weeks — what happened?
Ni-Cd cells self-discharge during storage, and if the cell drops below the BMS recovery threshold, the MAS-100 will not boot. Connect the device to its charger and leave it for a full charge cycle — the charge IC will detect the depleted cell and apply a recovery charge before resuming normal charging. If the device shows no response at all after 30 minutes on charge, disconnect and reconnect to reset the charge IC and allow it to detect the cell voltage from a clean state.
The MAS-100 is shutting off unexpectedly mid-sample — is the new battery faulty?
New Ni-Cd cells have higher internal resistance before conditioning, which causes voltage sag under the pump's load during active sampling. The BMS interprets this sag as a low-voltage cutoff condition and shuts the device down protectively. This behaviour reduces significantly after the first 8–10 full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's internal resistance drops. Complete those conditioning cycles on the bench before returning the instrument to active environmental monitoring use.
