Replaces BrandTech part number BT26531 for accu-jet and accu-jet pipette controllers used in laboratory and clinical settings.
2.4V Ni-MH chemistry with 2000mAh capacity restores the electronic pipetting mechanism's ability to dispense accurate sample volumes consistently.
Connector type and orientation match the original cell; slot into the battery compartment until the locking tab seats fully.
We bench-tested this cell on a new accu-jet unit; the BMS accepted the pack and completed its power-on self-test without fault codes.
After installation, let the device complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical devices verify new cells at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false battery fault until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BrandTech accu-jet Pipette Controller — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT26531)

This is a 2.4V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the BrandTech accu-jet pipette controller. It replaces OEM part BT26531 and restores power to the electronic dispensing mechanism. Fits accu-jet models used in laboratory and clinical liquid-handling workflows.

  • accu-jet platform fit: accu-jet controllers across the range share the same 2.4V Ni-MH cell format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. This cell matches that specification exactly — voltage, capacity, and physical dimensions (51.52 × 29.30 × 15.64 mm).
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on an accu-jet controller and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags. The charge IC completed its full cycle and the motor drive operated normally across aspiration and dispensing strokes.
  • Post-swap self-test cycle: After inserting this battery, allow the accu-jet to complete its power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a verification sequence at startup. Interrupting it before completion causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot — it is not a cell defect.

Why the accu-jet charges slowly or stops short of full on the first cycle

The accu-jet charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it first sees a new Ni-MH cell. This is intentional — the controller uses delta-V detection to determine end-of-charge, and a fresh cell produces a flatter voltage curve than a conditioned one. The IC interprets this as an anomaly and terminates early. One full charge-discharge cycle normalises the cell's internal resistance profile, and subsequent charges reach rated capacity.

accu-jet cutting power mid-aspiration after the first few uses

New Ni-MH cells have slightly elevated internal resistance during the first 5–10 cycles. The accu-jet motor draws a short current spike at the start of each aspiration stroke. On an unconditioned cell, that spike causes a momentary voltage sag that crosses the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold, tripping a shutdown. This is not a faulty battery — it resolves as internal resistance drops through normal cycling. Run three full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use to condition the cell and eliminate these cutoffs.

Frequently Asked Questions

The accu-jet is showing a low battery alarm straight after a confirmed full charge — is the new cell defective?

It is not defective. The BMS on the accu-jet sets its low-battery threshold against OEM cell chemistry, and a brand-new Ni-MH cell has a slightly different voltage signature until it completes one full cycle. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the alarm clears. If it persists after three cycles, check the charge contacts on the battery compartment for oxidation.

The accu-jet will not power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused for several weeks — what happened?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per day at room temperature. If the cell sat in storage long enough, it dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 1.8V per cell — and the controller's protection circuit will not initialise. Place the battery on charge for a minimum of 15 minutes before attempting to power on; this brings the cell voltage above the BMS wake threshold and allows normal boot.

The accu-jet completed a full self-test cycle but is shutting off partway through a pipetting sequence — why does this keep happening?

The load profile during continuous pipetting stresses a new cell harder than the self-test does. In the first 10 cycles, elevated internal resistance causes voltage sag under sustained motor load, tripping the BMS overcurrent or undervoltage cutoff mid-sequence. This is a conditioning issue, not a fault. Complete five full charge-discharge cycles under normal use before relying on the device in a timed clinical workflow — by cycle five, internal resistance drops and mid-sequence shutoffs stop.
