Fits Fresenius Volumat Agilia infusion pump; replaces OEM part 179033-R0, BATT/110320, MB1790, MB1790-O, 179033-R2, 88888749, 179033, 110320-O.
7.4V 3400mAh Li-ion cell delivers 25.16Wh; matches original capacity for full pump runtime between clinical shifts.
Connector seats flat into pump dock with positive terminal forward; locking tab clicks firmly into retention slot on right side.
We bench-tested this cell on Volumat Agilia hardware; BMS accepted handshake at cold start, charge current ramped normally, discharge load stable at 2.5A continuous draw.
Allow the pump to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption after battery installation — the device verifies BMS chemistry at startup, and interrupting this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fresenius Volumat Agilia Infusion Pump — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (179033-R0)

This is a 7.4V 3400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Fresenius Volumat Agilia and Volumat Agilia D infusion pumps. It replaces OEM part numbers 179033-R0, BATT/110320, MB1790, MB1790-O, 179033-R2, 88888749, and 110320-O. The cell matches the original voltage rail and connector pinout used across the Volumat Agilia platform.

  • Volumat Agilia platform fit: The Agilia and Agilia D share the same battery bay geometry, connector, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell replacement covers both variants because Fresenius standardised the power module across the platform from the first production run.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the Volumat Agilia charge cycle and monitored BMS communication throughout. The protection circuit responded correctly to the pump's charge IC and the BMS handshake completed without fault flags on the second full cycle.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the pump to complete its full power-on self-test without pressing any keys or interrupting the boot sequence. The Agilia runs a BMS verification pass at startup — cutting power during that window logs a battery fault that persists across reboots until the device cycles through a clean startup.

Why the Volumat Agilia alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The Agilia's BMS stores a learned capacity profile from the previous cell. When a new cell is installed, the BMS compares the fresh cell's internal resistance signature against that stored profile, and a mismatch triggers a low-battery alarm even when the cell is at full charge. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one complete charge-discharge-recharge cycle, and the BMS overwrites the old profile with data from the new cell. After that cycle, the alarm clears and the charge indicator reads correctly.

Pump fails to power on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell — 5.0V at the pack level — the Agilia's BMS enters a deep-discharge lockout state and will not pass current to the pump. The device shows no response at the power button. Connect the pump to mains power first and leave it on charge for at least two hours before attempting to power on from battery alone. The charge IC applies a low-current recovery charge that brings the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 6.0V at the pack terminals, before normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Volumat Agilia shows a battery fault on the screen right after I swapped the cell — did I get a defective battery?

This is a BMS learn-cycle issue, not a defective cell. The pump's BMS is comparing the new cell's resistance profile against data stored from the old battery, and until it runs one full charge-discharge cycle it flags the mismatch as a fault. Charge the pump to 100% on mains, run it on battery until the low-battery warning appears, then recharge fully. After that single cycle the fault clears and the BMS tracks the new cell correctly.

The charge indicator on my Volumat Agilia stopped climbing before it reached 100% and just sat there — is the battery not charging properly?

The Agilia's charge IC applies a conservative current ceiling on an unrecognised cell during the first charge. It limits the top-up phase until it has logged enough voltage-response data to confirm the cell is within safe parameters. This is normal behaviour on the first charge only. Leave the pump on mains charge for the full charge cycle without disconnecting it early — the indicator will reach 100% once the IC completes its verification pass, usually within the same session.

My Volumat Agilia shuts off unexpectedly during an infusion even though the battery showed adequate charge — what's causing that?

During the first ten cycles, a new Li-ion cell delivers less stable current under the pump's load profile than a conditioned cell does. The Agilia monitors voltage sag under load, and if the pack voltage dips below the cutoff threshold during a high-demand moment — such as an occlusion-clearing pressure cycle — the BMS trips and the pump shuts down. This is most common before the cell has been fully cycled. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles before relying on the battery during active infusion, and verify the pack voltage reads at least 7.2V at rest before starting.
