Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Edan iM3s Monitor — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (01.21.064397)
This 3.7V, 2000mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the internal cell in the Edan iM3s patient monitor. The iM3s is a portable clinical vital signs monitor used in hospital wards and point-of-care settings. It tracks heart rate, SpO₂, blood pressure, and other patient parameters — so power continuity matters.
- iM3s platform fit: The iM3s uses a single-cell Li-Polymer pack at 3.7V nominal. The BMS on this monitor negotiates with the cell over a dedicated communication line. Voltage rail, connector pinout, and pack dimensions (49 × 47 × 12mm) all match the OEM specification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the iM3s charge IC and confirmed the BMS handshake completes without a fault flag. Charge termination behaved correctly, and the monitor accepted the cell without throwing a battery-type error.
- Post-swap startup protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the iM3s to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The monitor runs a BMS verification sequence at boot. Cutting power during that sequence locks in a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Why the iM3s charges slowly or stops short of 100% on the first cycle
The iM3s charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it first encounters a new cell. It treats an unknown capacity state as a safety condition and throttles the charge rate until internal resistance data is logged. This is normal behaviour on the first charge, not a fault. Run one complete charge-to-full cycle and the IC recalibrates — subsequent charges reach 100% at normal speed.
iM3s showing low-battery alarm immediately after a confirmed full charge
The BMS compares cell voltage against a threshold calibrated for the OEM cell chemistry. A new replacement cell that hasn't completed a full charge-discharge cycle may read slightly below that threshold at rest, triggering the alarm even at full charge. This is a BMS learn-cycle issue, not a defective cell. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the iM3s before clinical use — the BMS recalibrates its cutoff reference and the alarm clears. Do not place the device in clinical service until that cycle is complete and the alarm does not recur.

Frequently Asked Questions
The iM3s won't power on after the replacement battery sat in the packaging for a few months — is the cell dead?
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage and can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — at which point the monitor's BMS blocks startup as a protection measure. Connect the iM3s to mains power and leave it on charge for at least 90 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC will apply a trickle current to bring the cell back above the recovery threshold, after which normal startup resumes. If the device still won't power on after a full charge attempt, check that the battery connector is fully seated.
The iM3s is alarming low battery and shutting off unexpectedly during patient monitoring — it was fully charged before the shift started.
The iM3s load profile during active monitoring — polling sensors, driving the display, and running alarms — stresses a new cell harder than a steady resting draw. In the first 10 cycles, a new Li-Polymer cell's internal resistance is higher, which causes voltage sag under that combined load. The BMS sees the sag as a low-voltage condition and triggers the cutoff before the cell is actually depleted. Run 5–10 full charge-discharge cycles on the bench before relying on this battery through a full clinical shift.
The iM3s completed a self-test after the battery swap but flagged a battery fault — the monitor is otherwise working fine.
A battery fault flag after swap usually means the BMS learn cycle hasn't completed on the new cell. The iM3s logs capacity and internal resistance data over the first full cycle to set its fault thresholds — without that baseline, it flags a mismatch against the previous cell's stored profile. Clear the flag by running one full charge from flat to 100% without interrupting the device. After that cycle completes, reboot the monitor and re-run the self-test — the fault should not reappear.
