M6008-O will not power on after the battery sat unused in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day. A pack stored for several months can drop below the M6008-O's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 8.5V on a 9.6V pack — causing the device to show no power response at all. Place the battery on a compatible external Ni-MH charger set to a slow charge rate (0.1C) until it reaches at least 9.0V, then reinstall. The M6008-O should recognise the pack and complete a full charge cycle normally from that point.

It is not faulty. The M6008-O BMS compares the cell's internal resistance against a stored OEM profile, and a new Ni-MH cell reads outside that profile on the first cycle. Run one full charge-discharge cycle before using the device clinically — that gives the BMS enough data to recalibrate its threshold to the new cell. The alarm will clear after that first complete cycle.

My M6008-O shuts off unexpectedly during use, but the battery indicator shows charge remaining — what's happening?

New Ni-MH cells carry slightly elevated internal resistance for the first 5–10 cycles. Under the sustained load the M6008-O draws during active oxygen delivery, that resistance causes a momentary voltage sag that trips the BMS's undervoltage cutoff even when overall charge looks normal. Cycle the battery fully at least five times before relying on it during extended use — resistance drops with each cycle and the sag narrows. After 10 cycles, the cutoff behaviour should stabilise at normal load.

The charge indicator on the M6008-O never reaches 100% on the first charge with this replacement — should I be concerned?

No. The M6008-O charge IC applies a conservative termination limit on cells it has not yet profiled. On a fresh Ni-MH cell, it terminates early rather than risk overcharge, which shows as 90–95% on the indicator. Let the device complete a full discharge down to its low-battery cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to completion. After one full cycle, the charge IC updates its delta-V termination point and the indicator will reach 100% on subsequent charges.
