Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Riester RVS-100 / ri-accu monitor — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (120034-O)
This 10.8V Li-ion battery replaces the original Riester part 120034-O. It fits the Riester 13322, RVS-100 Monitor, and ri-accu monitor diagnostic instruments used in clinical otoscopy and ophthalmoscopy. Capacity is 7800mAh (84.24Wh), matching the OEM specification.
- RVS-100 and 13322 platform compatibility: Both instruments share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers the full RVS-100 series without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, hold, and load discharge on the RVS-100 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, completed handshake, and held voltage within the expected window across the full discharge curve.
- Post-swap startup sequence: After installing this battery, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The RVS-100 BMS runs a verification cycle at startup — cutting power mid-sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Low battery alarm on the RVS-100 immediately after a confirmed full charge
The RVS-100 BMS compares cell behaviour against a stored OEM chemistry profile. A new replacement cell has not yet completed a full charge-discharge learn cycle, so the BMS flags capacity as unconfirmed and triggers the low battery threshold early. This is not a fault with the cell — it is the BMS applying a conservative cutoff until calibration data exists. Run one complete charge cycle from flat to full, then allow the device to finish its post-charge self-test. After that first cycle, the alarm clears and the charge indicator reads accurately.
Device will not power on after the battery sat unused for several months
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If voltage drops below approximately 9.0V, the RVS-100 BMS enters deep-discharge protection and blocks startup to prevent cell damage. The device will show no response — no display, no indicator light. Place the battery on charge and leave it connected for a minimum of two hours before attempting to power on. The charge IC applies a low-current recovery trickle until the cell climbs back above the BMS recovery threshold, at which point normal charging resumes and the device will boot.

Frequently Asked Questions
The RVS-100 shows a low battery warning the moment I switch it on, even though I just charged it overnight — is the battery faulty?
The battery is not faulty. The RVS-100 BMS uses a learned chemistry profile to assess charge state, and a new cell has no calibration data yet — so the BMS defaults to its most conservative low-battery threshold. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical use. After that cycle completes and the device finishes its post-charge self-test, the alarm clears and the indicator reads correctly.
The device powers on but shuts off unexpectedly during an examination — it doesn't alarm first, it just cuts out.
New Li-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which causes a sharper voltage sag under the clinical load profile the RVS-100 draws during active illumination. The BMS interprets that sag as a depleted cell and cuts output before any alarm triggers. This behaviour resolves after the cell completes its initial conditioning cycles. Until then, start each session with a full charge and confirm the charge indicator has reached 100% before use.
The charge indicator on the RVS-100 stops climbing before it reaches 100% and the charger light goes green early — is the battery not accepting a full charge?
The charge IC applies a reduced current limit on an uncalibrated new cell, which causes it to terminate the charge cycle earlier than normal on the first attempt. This is a protective behaviour, not a fault. Place the battery back on charge immediately after that first short cycle — the IC will recognise residual capacity headroom and resume charging to full. After one complete charge-discharge cycle, the charge IC calibrates correctly and the indicator reaches 100% reliably.
