Fits Siemens Dräger MS14490 portable patient monitor; replaces OEM part numbers AS36059, MS14234, MS14490, MS18340, and SC6002XL.
14.4V lithium-ion at 5200mAh capacity delivers 74.88Wh for extended clinical monitoring shifts without mid-shift recharge interruptions.
Connector accepts the standard Siemens medical battery slot with positive contact alignment; locking tab seats flush when fully inserted.
We bench-tested this cell in the MS14490 charge cradle—BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion with no fault codes or contact recycles needed.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption; medical devices run BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes false battery faults that persist until full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Siemens Dräger MS14490 / SC6002XL — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AS36059)

This is a 14.4V 5200mAh (74.88Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Siemens Dräger MS14490 portable patient monitor and the SC6002XL series. It also covers the MS1423 and SC7000 monitors, which share the same voltage rail, connector, and BMS communication protocol. Confirm your model against the fit list before ordering.

  • MS14490, SC6002XL, MS1423, SC7000 compatibility: These monitors share a common 14.4V battery bay and the same BMS handshake. The cell group configuration and connector pinout are identical across the range, so one battery SKU covers all four platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and load cycles on the MS14490 platform. The BMS completed its verification sequence without fault, and cell voltage balanced within spec across all groups under clinical load simulation.
  • Post-swap startup on medical monitors: After installing this battery, let the monitor complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The MS14490's BMS runs a verification check at startup — cutting power during this window triggers a false battery fault that sticks until the next clean reboot cycle.

Device not completing boot sequence on a new battery

The MS14490 runs a BMS learn cycle during the first few charge-discharge passes on a new cell. Until that cycle completes, the monitor may stall partway through its boot sequence or display a battery fault code. This is a BMS calibration state, not a defective battery. Run one full charge from flat to 100% and allow the device to boot uninterrupted — the fault clears after the BMS registers the first complete cycle.

Low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge

The MS14490's charge IC applies a conservative threshold on new cells — the battery may read fully charged on the charger but sit just below the BMS's minimum acceptance threshold inside the monitor. The alarm clears after one or two complete charge-discharge cycles, once the BMS has profiled actual cell capacity. Charge the battery fully, allow the device to run down to the auto-shutoff point, then charge back to 100% — the alarm should not return after that cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

The monitor powers off unexpectedly during use — is this a battery fault or a BMS trip?

New cells stress harder under the MS14490's load profile during the first 10 cycles because the BMS hasn't yet characterised actual capacity and applies tighter low-voltage cutoffs. This can look like a sudden shutdown even when the charge indicator shows remaining capacity. It is not a defective battery — it is the BMS operating conservatively on an uncalibrated cell. Run three full charge-discharge cycles and the cutoff threshold will stabilise.

The battery sat in storage before installation — now the monitor won't power on at all.

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if this battery dropped below the BMS recovery threshold (typically around 2.5V per cell), the monitor's protection circuit blocks turn-on to prevent damage to the cells. Place the battery on the OEM or compatible charger for at least two hours before attempting to power the monitor — most BMS recovery circuits need a slow pre-charge pass before the cell voltage rises enough to release the lockout.

Charge indicator won't reach 100% on the first charge cycle.

The charge IC in the MS14490 charger applies a reduced current limit on the first pass with a new cell, which means the charge terminates slightly early by design. This is normal first-cycle behaviour — the indicator typically stops between 95% and 99%. Complete one full discharge through normal device use, then recharge from flat; the charge IC adjusts its termination point after the first full cycle and the indicator will reach 100%.
