Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tunstall Lifeline Vi / Vi+ — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (D3706008a)
This 3.7V 1500mAh Li-ion cell replaces the OEM battery in the Tunstall Lifeline Vi and Lifeline Vi+ personal emergency response devices. It matches the original D3706008a specification in voltage, capacity, and physical dimensions. Capacity is 5.55Wh — no upsizing, no chemistry substitution.
- Lifeline Vi and Vi+ compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V battery rail with the same BMS handshake protocol. The D3706008a part number covers both variants — the Vi+ shares the same connector, cell footprint, and BMS communication as the standard Vi.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Lifeline Vi's charge IC and monitored BMS response at each stage. The protection circuit responded correctly to both charge cutoff and low-voltage thresholds. No false fault codes were triggered after a complete charge cycle.
- Post-installation self-test requirement: After fitting this cell, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Lifeline Vi runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this window generates a persistent battery fault flag that will not clear until the next complete reboot.
Low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge
The Lifeline Vi's BMS uses a learned threshold calibrated to the OEM cell's charge profile. A new replacement cell can read as below threshold on the first cycle because the BMS hasn't yet mapped its voltage curve. This is not a faulty cell — it is a calibration gap. Run one complete charge-discharge-charge cycle and the BMS will update its reference. The alarm should clear once the cell voltage holds above 3.6V under the device's standby load after that conditioning cycle.
Device will not power on after the replacement cell was stored before fitting
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage has dropped below approximately 2.5V, the Lifeline Vi's BMS enters a protection lockout and blocks power-on entirely. Connect the device to its mains charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power it on — the charge IC applies a low-rate pre-charge trickle below 3.0V to recover the cell safely. Once the cell climbs past 3.0V, normal charging resumes and the device will boot.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Lifeline Vi is showing a low battery warning straight after I put in a new charged battery — is the battery faulty?
It is almost certainly not faulty. The device BMS stores a voltage threshold learned from the original cell, and a new cell's charge curve doesn't match that profile on the first cycle. Run one full charge-discharge-charge cycle through the device before drawing any conclusions. After that conditioning cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears if the cell holds above 3.6V under standby load.
The Lifeline Vi powered off on its own during use shortly after I replaced the battery — why is this happening in the first few days?
Medical alert devices apply a more demanding load profile than the cell has seen during storage, and new Li-ion cells deliver slightly lower voltage under load in their first 10 cycles before the electrodes fully condition. If the cell voltage dips under load below the BMS cutoff — typically around 3.0V — the device shuts off as a protection measure, not a failure. Charge the device fully, complete the power-on self-test without interruption, and allow several charge cycles before assessing further. Unexpected shutoffs that continue past 10 cycles indicate a cell issue worth investigating.
The charge indicator on the Lifeline Vi won't reach 100% on the first charge with the new battery — should I be concerned?
No — this is expected on the first charge. The charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new or recently stored cell, which extends the final absorption phase and can cause the indicator to stall below 100% for longer than normal. Leave the device on charge until the indicator completes — do not unplug early. If the indicator still hasn't reached full after six hours on mains charge, disconnect, allow the device to rest for 15 minutes, then reconnect for a second full charge cycle.
