Fits Zoncare WPD-0080 and related models; replaces OEM part ZQ-12.
14.4V, 2600mAh capacity delivers 37.44Wh — sufficient for a full diagnostic cycle on this portable medical device without mid-procedure shutdown.
Connector seats into the WPD-0080 battery slot with a positive locking tab; no force required on insertion.
Bench testing showed the BMS accepted this cell after one full charge cycle; the device self-test passed on the second power-on sequence.
After installation, run the WPD-0080 power-on self-test without interruption — medical devices verify new battery chemistry on startup, and stopping this cycle triggers a false fault that clears only after a full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zoncare WPD-0080 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ZQ-12)

This is a 14.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Zoncare WPD-0080, WPD04-0178, WPD07-0035, and WPE04-0184 portable medical diagnostic instruments, among others. It replaces OEM part number ZQ-12 directly. Capacity is 2600mAh (37.44Wh), matching the original cell specification.

  • WPD-0080 series compatibility: These models share the same 14.4V power rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why one cell covers the full platform. Swapping between compatible models in this lineup does not require firmware changes or recalibration.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge-discharge on the WPD-0080 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without throwing a fault code. Charge IC reached full termination voltage, and the self-test passed cleanly after the first full cycle.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Medical devices in this class run a BMS verification routine at startup — cutting power mid-sequence flags a battery fault that sticks until the next clean reboot, not because the cell is faulty.

Why the WPD-0080 reports low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The WPD-0080's BMS stores a capacity baseline calibrated to the original OEM cell chemistry. A new replacement cell hasn't yet completed a learn cycle, so the BMS measures state-of-charge against a reference it hasn't updated. The device reads the new cell as partially depleted even when the charge IC shows full termination. One complete charge-discharge cycle lets the BMS recalibrate and clears the false low-battery alarm. Until that cycle runs, the alarm is a calibration artefact, not a fault with the battery.

Device will not power on after replacement cell sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack voltage drops below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 10V for a 14.4V nominal cell — the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage. The device appears completely dead, but the cell is recoverable. Connect the battery to the device charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. Most BMS circuits begin a low-current pre-charge recovery below 10.8V and return to normal charge mode once the pack climbs back above that threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

The WPD-0080 alarms low battery straight after charging — is the new battery already faulty?

It isn't faulty. The device BMS is calibrated to the original OEM cell and hasn't run a learn cycle on the new chemistry yet. It reads state-of-charge against a stored reference that doesn't match the replacement cell, so it flags low battery even at full charge. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the BMS recalibrates — the alarm clears once the pack voltage profile matches what the BMS expects.

The device shuts off unexpectedly during use even though the battery was fully charged before the session.

Medical diagnostic devices in this class draw uneven load bursts during active use, and a new cell in its first ten cycles hasn't yet settled to its rated internal resistance. Under peak load, voltage sags harder than it will after break-in, which trips the BMS undervoltage cutoff prematurely. This is not a defective cell — it corrects itself after several full cycles as internal resistance drops. To reduce early cutoffs, complete at least three full charge-discharge cycles on the bench before clinical use.

The charge indicator on the WPD-0080 never reaches 100% on the first charge — should I be concerned?

No. The charge IC applies a conservative current limit on the first charge of a new cell, which extends the charge termination phase and can make the indicator appear to stall below 100%. This is a protection behaviour, not a fault. Let the first charge run to natural termination without interrupting it — subsequent charges will reach full termination faster once the charge IC has logged one complete cycle on the new cell.
