Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Clear SPOT / IMW-C600W / IMW-C610W — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (884765)
This is a 3.7V, 3400mAh lithium-ion replacement battery for the Clear SPOT, iSPOT 4G, IMW-C600W, and IMW-C610W mobile hotspot devices. It slots into the same bay as the original 884765 cell and restores the hotspot's ability to broadcast a WiFi signal and maintain a cellular data connection. Capacity is sourced from product data: 3400mAh (12.58Wh).
- IMW-C600W and IMW-C610W platform fit: Both the C600W and C610W run the same 3.7V battery rail with an identical connector and BMS handshake profile. The 884765 part number covers the full model range — the internal BMS on each unit recognises the same charge termination voltage, so no firmware mismatch occurs on insertion.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the IMW-C600W platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, charge termination fired correctly at 4.2V, and low-voltage cutoff triggered at the expected floor before any cell stress occurred.
- Ventilation during extended hotspot sessions: Keep the hotspot on an open surface — not inside a bag or case — during long sessions. The cellular radio runs at maximum output power when connected devices are far away or signal is weak, and heat buildup in an enclosed space accelerates cell wear faster than almost any other use pattern.
Hotspot warm to the touch during extended sessions on a new battery
The IMW-C600W and C610W run two power-hungry radios simultaneously — a cellular modem and a WiFi broadcast chip. When multiple devices are connected and the cellular signal is marginal, both radios push toward maximum output at the same time. That combined draw pulls harder on the 3.7V cell than casual single-device use, raising internal cell temperature. Keep connected device count reasonable and move the hotspot closer to a window in low-signal environments to reduce radio output demand.
SPOT hotspot shows charging but won't boot after sitting unused
After extended storage, the cell voltage can drop below the minimum threshold the BMS requires to authorise a boot sequence — typically under 3.0V for this chemistry. The device may show a charging indicator but still refuse to power on because the BMS is blocking the power rail until voltage climbs back to a safe level. Leave the unit on charge uninterrupted for at least 60 minutes before attempting to power on. If the device still won't boot after that window, check that wall voltage is reaching the charge port — a marginal cable or adapter will slow recovery significantly.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Clear SPOT hotspot keeps dropping connected devices mid-session even though the battery shows full — what's happening?
Under peak load — several devices connected simultaneously plus weak cellular signal — the modem and WiFi chip together can pull enough current to cause momentary voltage sag on the 3.7V rail, which triggers the BMS protection circuit and briefly interrupts the power supply to the modem. The hotspot recovers quickly, but users see it as a drop. Reduce the number of connected devices or move the hotspot closer to a window to cut radio output demand and bring current draw back within stable range.
Why does the SPOT hotspot battery drain significantly faster in some locations than others?
In areas with weak or fluctuating cellular signal, the modem continuously ramps to maximum transmit power trying to hold the connection — this is the single largest current draw on the 884765 cell, and it compounds with however many WiFi clients are active. A battery that lasts a full workday in a strong-signal office can drain noticeably faster in a basement, rural area, or building with thick concrete walls. Moving the hotspot to a location with better signal reception is the fastest way to reduce that drain without any other change.
The Clear SPOT won't turn on at all after being stored for a few months — is the battery dead?
Deep self-discharge during storage can push the cell below 3.0V, which is the floor the BMS needs to see before it will allow the unit to boot. Connect the hotspot to a known-good wall charger — not a low-output USB port — and leave it charging without interruption for at least 60 minutes before pressing the power button. If the indicator light comes on during that window, the cell is recovering; if nothing responds after 90 minutes with a confirmed working adapter, the cell has likely dropped below recoverable voltage and needs replacement.
