Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Netgear Aircard 782s / Unite AC770S — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (W-5)
This is a 3.7V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery with OEM part number W-5, replacing the original power cell in the Netgear Aircard 782s, Unite AC770S, and UNITE-344B mobile hotspots. These devices broadcast a wireless signal to multiple clients while simultaneously running a cellular modem — a combined load that taxes the battery harder than a typical single-function device. Dimensions are 77.20 x 54.00 x 6.20mm for a direct physical fit.
- Aircard 782s, Unite AC770S, and UNITE-344B compatibility: All three models share the same W-5 battery form factor, voltage rail, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the group, so one cell covers all three without firmware or calibration differences.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell under simultaneous cellular modem and multi-client WiFi load. The BMS held a stable discharge curve without triggering thermal cutoff or low-voltage protection trips during sustained sessions.
- Ventilation during extended hotspot sessions: When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio pushes to maximum output power. Keep the unit flat on an open surface — not in a bag or pocket — during long sessions to prevent heat buildup that degrades cell capacity over time.
Why the Aircard 782s drops all connected clients mid-session on a new battery
The Aircard 782s runs two high-draw systems at once: the cellular modem and the WiFi radio. When client count hits the device maximum and the cellular signal is weak, instantaneous current draw spikes sharply. If the battery's internal resistance is elevated — either from age or a partially degraded new cell — voltage sags below the BMS protection floor, and the unit cuts power to recover. This appears as a full disconnection rather than a slow fade. Charge the replacement cell fully before the first heavy-load session so the BMS has an accurate state-of-charge baseline to work from.
Aircard 782s won't power on after sitting unused for several weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month under normal storage conditions, but a hotspot left in standby with WiFi broadcasting can drain the pack to near-zero within days. Once cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters deep-discharge lockout and the device will not respond to the power button. Connect the unit to the original Netgear charger and leave it for at least 15–20 minutes before pressing power — most BMS circuits require a trickle charge recovery period before they release the lockout and allow a normal boot.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Aircard 782s keeps kicking all connected devices off the WiFi every few minutes — is this a battery issue?
Yes, this is a voltage-sag cutoff. When the cellular modem and WiFi radio both run at peak draw — common when signal is weak and several devices are connected — current demand spikes and a degraded or low-charge battery drops below the BMS protection threshold, triggering a full shutdown. The hotspot then reboots, which looks like everyone getting disconnected at once. Charge the replacement battery to 100% before the first session and keep client connections below the device maximum when cellular signal is poor.
The new W-5 battery drains noticeably faster when the hotspot is used in a basement or rural area — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The Aircard 782s boosts cellular radio output power automatically when signal strength is low, and that higher transmit power draws significantly more current from the battery than a normal signal-strength session. This is normal modem behaviour, not a battery fault. Move the hotspot to the highest point in the room or near a window to improve signal and reduce radio output power — that single step lowers current draw more than any battery swap will.
The Aircard 782s shows a charging indicator but the battery percentage never climbs past a low number after sitting flat for a long time — what's happening?
When a Li-ion cell discharges below roughly 2.5V, the BMS enters a protective state and only accepts trickle current until voltage recovers to a safe level. During that trickle phase, the charging LED activates but the percentage shown on the hotspot display barely moves — this is normal recovery behaviour, not a faulty charger or dead cell. Leave the unit connected to the Netgear wall adapter for at least 30 minutes before checking the percentage again. If the number begins climbing after that window, the BMS has cleared the lockout and normal charge rate has resumed.
