Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel OT-C650 / OT-C651 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (3DS11080AAAA)
This is a 3.7V, 650mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original battery in the Alcatel OT-C650, OT-C651, OT-C652, OT-E159, and over 65 additional models. It matches the OEM footprint at 53.05 × 33.48 × 4.78mm. Install it when the original cell can no longer hold a charge through a normal day.
- Multi-model fit across the OT-C6xx and OT-E series: These candybar handsets share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail. One cell covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the OT-C651 platform. The BMS accepted charge current correctly, and the protection circuit tripped as expected at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installation, run one full discharge down to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the phone's fuel gauge IC a complete reference curve against the new cell before it starts reporting percentages.
Why the OT-C650 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The fuel gauge IC on these Alcatel devices learns the discharge curve of the installed cell over time. When you swap in a new cell, the IC still holds the old curve in memory. Until it recalibrates, the percentage reading can be off by 15–25%, showing full charge when the cell is actually at 80%. One complete discharge-to-shutoff and full recharge cycle resets the coulomb counter and aligns the gauge to the new cell's actual capacity.
Phone shuts down suddenly at 20–30% after replacement
A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. When the screen backlight and radio stack draw current simultaneously, the voltage at the battery terminals dips sharply — briefly dropping below the minimum the phone's PMIC will accept. The BMS reads this as a fault and cuts power, even though the fuel gauge still shows remaining charge. This typically resolves after three full charge-discharge cycles, which reduce cell impedance. If shutdowns persist past cycle three, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection adds resistance and worsens the voltage sag.

Frequently Asked Questions
The phone won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
Probably not dead, but the BMS has locked out below 2.5V per cell due to deep discharge in storage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charger delivers a trickle current that brings the cell voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once voltage reaches approximately 3.0V, the BMS unlocks and the phone should power on normally.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — it drops from 60% to 15% then bounces back up — what's causing that?
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve. The IC's stored model no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement cell, so it misreads rapid voltage drops under load as large capacity losses. Run two full cycles — discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption — and the coulomb counter will re-anchor to the new cell. After the second cycle, erratic jumps should stop.
The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery compartment while charging — is that normal with a new cell?
A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a well-broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat during the first few cycles. Warmth — not heat you can't hold your hand against — is normal for the first three to five charges. Charge on a hard flat surface rather than a soft surface like a bed or sofa so heat can dissipate. If the phone becomes too hot to hold comfortably after cycle five, reseat the battery connector and confirm the contacts are clean and making full contact.
