Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Archos 50c Neon / 45B Helium — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AC1850A)
This is a 3.7V 1400mAh Li-ion cell rated at 5.18Wh, replacing part number AC1850A. It fits the Archos 50c Neon and Archos 45B Helium Android smartphones. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or fails to power the device.
- 50c Neon and 45B Helium compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — the AC1850A part number covers both. No adapter or modification is needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on both device models and confirmed the BMS handshake completes without fault codes. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold during deep-discharge testing.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. The fuel gauge IC on these Archos devices calibrates against the cell's discharge curve — skipping this step causes the percentage readout to drift against the new cell's actual capacity.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Archos 50c Neon after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity defect. The fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve from the old degraded cell and predicts remaining charge incorrectly. When the modem or display draws a burst of current, the new cell's voltage drops below the cutoff threshold before the gauge reaches 0%. One complete discharge-to-charge cycle lets the coulomb counter relearn the new cell's actual voltage-versus-capacity curve and eliminates premature shutdowns.
Device not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks charge current to prevent thermal runaway on a deeply discharged cell. The phone will show no response when connected to a charger. Connect the device to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it undisturbed for 20–30 minutes. Most BMS circuits on these Archos models will accept a trickle recovery current and release lockout once the cell climbs back above 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Archos 50c Neon shows a completely wrong battery percentage after I put in the new AC1850A cell — it jumps from 60% straight to 15% with no warning.
The fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it learned from the old degraded cell. The new cell has a different voltage profile, so the percentage calculation drifts badly until the IC recalibrates. Run one full uninterrupted discharge — let the phone shut itself off — then charge it to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter resets to the new cell's curve and the percentage readout stabilises.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after fitting the replacement — is something wrong?
A new high-impedance cell produces more heat during initial charge cycles than a worn cell does. The charge IC on the 45B Helium and 50c Neon pushes the same current profile regardless of cell age, so internal resistance on a fresh cell converts slightly more energy to heat until the cell is conditioned. Check that the phone is not inside a case during the first two charge cycles, and charge on a hard flat surface so heat can dissipate. If the back of the device becomes too hot to hold comfortably, stop charging and let it cool to room temperature before continuing.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my Archos 45B Helium — it only slow-charges now.
The proprietary charge protocol on these Archos models requires a BMS handshake before the charge IC steps up to high-current mode. On the first cycle after a cell swap, some BMS circuits default to safe slow-charge until they complete a full charge cycle and confirm cell integrity. Charge the device fully at the slow rate, then discharge it completely and charge again. If fast charging does not resume after two full cycles, confirm you are using the original Archos wall adapter — third-party chargers often fail the handshake regardless of the cell fitted.
