Fits CAT S48C smartphone, replaces OEM part number L6880.
3.8V and 3800mAh capacity restores full daily runtime on the S48C after original cell degradation or failure.
Connector slides straight down into the battery slot — no locking tab, seats flush against the contact spring.
We ran discharge cycles on the bench; the BMS accepted charge within normal parameters and held voltage under sustained load without early cutoff.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

CAT S48C — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L6880)

This is a 3800mAh, 3.8V Li-Polymer battery that replaces the original L6880 cell in the CAT S48C rugged smartphone. It fits the S48C directly — same connector, same physical footprint at 98.16 × 57.80 × 4.30mm. Capacity is rated at 14.44Wh, matching the original specification.

  • CAT S48C platform fit: The S48C uses a fixed voltage rail of 3.8V with a connector and BMS handshake tied specifically to the L6880 cell profile. This replacement matches that voltage and connector configuration so the charge IC accepts the cell without throwing a fault.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the S48C platform and monitored BMS communication throughout. The protection circuit responded correctly to both charge cutoff and low-voltage discharge limits, and the charge IC completed a full cycle without interruption.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve against the new cell before the coulomb counter locks in its reference points.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the CAT S48C after a cell swap

The S48C's modem and display together draw sharp current spikes that can drag cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold even when the fuel gauge still reads 20–30%. A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance on its first few cycles, which amplifies that voltage sag under load. The BMS reads the instantaneous voltage drop as a critical low-cell event and cuts power. After two or three full discharge-charge cycles, impedance drops and the shutdowns stop.

USB fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement

After a cell swap, the charge IC on the S48C may negotiate a lower charge current on the first cycle while the BMS validates the new cell's parameters. This is not a fault — it is the IC confirming cell impedance and temperature response before stepping up current. Plug in with the original CAT cable, let the first full charge complete at standard current, and fast charging typically re-enables on the next session. If it does not, check that the cable supports the required current rating — the S48C's USB-PD handshake is cable-sensitive.

Frequently Asked Questions

My CAT S48C keeps shutting off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?

Not faulty — this is a voltage cliff issue on a new cell. Fresh Li-Polymer cells have higher internal impedance for the first few cycles, so under a heavy load spike from the modem or screen the cell voltage sags sharply and the BMS triggers a cutoff even though the gauge still reads 25%. Run two or three full discharge-charge cycles at standard current and the impedance drops. If shutdowns continue past five cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated and making clean contact.

The battery percentage on my S48C is jumping around erratically after the replacement — it went from 60% to 35% in minutes without heavy use.

The fuel gauge IC on the S48C was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original worn cell, not this new one. After a cell swap, the coulomb counter has no accurate reference points and percentage readings will be unstable until it recalibrates. Do one complete discharge — let the phone run down until it powers off — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the phone. That single full cycle gives the fuel gauge IC enough data to rebuild an accurate curve, and percentage readings stabilise.

My S48C won't power on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it — nothing happens when I press the power button.

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if this cell dropped below approximately 2.5V the BMS entered lockout mode to prevent damage — the phone will not respond at all in this state. Plug in the original CAT charger and leave it connected for at least 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell to bring it above the BMS re-initialisation threshold, which sits around 3.0V. Once the charging indicator appears on screen, a normal charge cycle can proceed.
