Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honor Nova 9 / Honor 50 / Nova 60 SE — 3.87V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HB476489EFW)
This is a 3.87V, 4200mAh (16.25Wh) Li-Polymer cell built to the HB476489EFW specification. It fits the Honor Nova 9, Honor 50, and Nova 60 SE. Swap it in when your original cell no longer holds a charge or drops off sharply under load.
- Nova 9, Honor 50, and Nova 60 SE compatibility: All three models share the same physical footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The HB476489EFW part number covers the full group — one cell fits all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load sequences on the Nova 9 platform. The BMS accepted the handshake cleanly, voltage held steady under sustained screen-on load, and the charge IC reported state-of-charge without error flags.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell, preventing erratic percentage readings from the first day.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
A new cell with an uncalibrated fuel gauge IC will show a percentage based on the old cell's discharge curve. When the modem fires or the screen peaks in brightness, current draw spikes sharply. If the IC hasn't mapped the new cell yet, it misreads available capacity and the hardware undervoltage cutoff trips before the displayed percentage reaches zero. This is a calibration gap, not a defective cell. Run two full discharge-charge cycles without fast charging — by the second cycle, the coulomb counter has enough data to track the new cell accurately.
USB-PD fast charge not working on first cycle after replacement
On the first charge after a cell swap, the charge IC may refuse to negotiate fast-charge protocols until it completes an initial trickle phase with the new cell. The BMS presents higher impedance on a fresh cell, and some Honor charge controllers default to standard 5V/1A until impedance drops into the expected window. Plug in using the original Honor charger and cable — third-party USB-PD adapters that skip the proprietary handshake will stay locked at standard rate indefinitely. After one full standard-rate cycle, fast charging resumes on the second charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Honor Nova 9 shows 25% battery, then shuts off without warning — is the new cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. This is a voltage cliff: under modem or display load, current demand spikes and the cell's voltage drops below the hardware cutoff before the fuel gauge IC registers zero. It happens because the coulomb counter is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Run two full discharge-charge cycles at standard rate (fast charging off), and the IC will remap to the new cell — shutdowns at 20–30% should stop after the second cycle.
The battery percentage on my Honor 50 jumps around erratically after fitting the new cell — what's happening?
The fuel gauge IC uses a stored discharge profile from the previous cell to estimate remaining capacity. With a new cell installed, that profile no longer matches the actual voltage curve, so the percentage reading skips and corrects itself in real time as the IC gathers new data. This is not a wiring or connection fault. Do one complete discharge to shutdown followed by a full charge to 100% without interruption — the coulomb counter locks onto the new curve and percentage reporting stabilises from there.
My Honor Nova 9 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it recoverable?
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage. The phone will not power on and may not show a charging indicator immediately. Connect the original Honor charger and leave it plugged in for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC runs a slow trickle recovery phase to bring the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. Once voltage recovers above approximately 3.0V, the BMS releases and the phone will boot normally.
