Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kyocera Hydro Elite / C6750 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SCP-53LBPS)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion cell rated at 1500mAh (5.55Wh), built to the SCP-53LBPS specification. It fits the Kyocera Hydro Elite, Hydro Elite 4G LTE, and the C6750 variant. All three share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout.
- Hydro Elite, Hydro Elite 4G LTE, and C6750 compatibility: These models use the same 3.7V battery rail, identical connector geometry, and the same BMS communication protocol — one cell covers all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the C6750 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state of charge without flagging an incompatible cell error.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After installing this cell, disable any fast-charge setting and run one full discharge-charge cycle before normal use. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve — skipping this step is the most common cause of erratic percentage readings on the Hydro Elite.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Hydro Elite after a cell swap
The Hydro Elite's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. When a new cell goes in, the stored curve no longer matches actual voltage behaviour — the phone calculates remaining capacity against old data. Under modem or display load, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the IC expects, and the phone cuts power before the reported percentage reaches zero. This is a calibration gap, not a faulty cell. One full discharge-charge cycle with no fast charging lets the coulomb counter reset against the new cell. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% stop.
Phone feels warm near the battery compartment on the first charge
A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a well-cycled one. On the first charge, the charge IC works against that elevated impedance, and more energy converts to heat than usual. This is normal and temporary — internal impedance drops after two or three cycles. If the phone stays warm beyond the first two charges, check that no fast-charge mode is active during break-in. Charging at standard rate (5V/1A) keeps junction temperature within safe limits while the cell conditions itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Kyocera Hydro Elite keeps shutting off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell defective?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the Hydro Elite is still reading the discharge curve it learned from the old battery, so its voltage-to-percentage math is off. Under any load spike — LTE radio, screen brightness — the new cell's voltage dips below the threshold the IC mapped to zero, and it cuts the phone. Run one full discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with fast charge off. After that single cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates and the early shutdowns stop.
The battery percentage on my Hydro Elite is jumping around — it'll show 60%, then skip to 45% a few minutes later without much use. What's causing that?
That's the fuel gauge IC trying to reconcile its stored capacity model against a cell it hasn't characterised yet. The Hydro Elite uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge, and when the reference data doesn't match real voltage readings, it corrects in visible jumps rather than smoothly. It isn't a sign of a bad cell. Force a full calibration cycle: drain the phone until it shuts off on its own, then charge straight to 100% without interrupting. One complete cycle is usually enough to settle the percentage display.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my Hydro Elite — the phone charges, but only at the slow rate now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the Hydro Elite can default to standard charge rate while it handshakes with the new BMS. This is a protection behaviour — it won't negotiate higher current until it has verified the cell responds correctly. Charge the phone fully at the slow rate, then unplug and let it discharge to below 20% before charging again. On that second charge, the fast-charge handshake typically re-establishes. If it doesn't, check that you're using the original wall adapter, since the USB-PD negotiation starts at the charger end before it reaches the battery BMS.
