Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

OnePlus 8 5G — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BLP761)
This is a 3.85V, 4200mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the OnePlus 8 5G smartphone. It fits models N20190, IN2010, and IN2017. Swap it when the original cell can no longer hold a charge across a full day of use.
- N20190 / IN2010 / IN2017 compatibility: These model numbers share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The BLP761 cell fits all three without hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an IN2010 unit. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, charge current ramped correctly, and the protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable Warp Charge and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle on standard charging. This lets the coulomb counter recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Why the OnePlus 8 5G reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The fuel gauge IC on the OnePlus 8 5G stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement. The OS reads a voltage point from the old curve and reports the wrong percentage. One full discharge below 5% followed by a complete charge to 100% on standard charging resets the coulomb counter and forces the gauge IC to build a new curve from scratch.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% charge remaining on the new cell
This is a voltage cliff, not a capacity fault. Under high loads — 5G modem activity, screen at full brightness, or simultaneous background sync — the new cell's voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge predicts. The system voltage falls below the BMS cutoff threshold before the display percentage reaches zero. The fix is the same recalibration cycle: one full discharge to near-empty followed by a full charge. Check that the percentage holds stable under load at or above 3.6V before calling the cell defective.

Frequently Asked Questions
The OnePlus 8 5G won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead on arrival?
It is almost certainly a BMS lockout, not a dead cell. If the original battery discharged below roughly 2.5V during storage, the protection circuit locks out to prevent damage and the phone will not power on even with a new cell installed if that cell also arrived partially discharged. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charging indicator does not appear within that window, the BMS needs a trickle-charge recovery pulse, which a quality wall adapter will supply automatically.
Warp Charge stopped working after fitting the BLP761 — the phone only charges slowly now.
OnePlus's Warp Charge protocol requires a handshake between the charger, the cable, and the charge IC on the first cycle with a new cell. On an uncalibrated cell, the charge IC sometimes defaults to standard 5V input until it completes one baseline cycle. Run one full charge to 100% using the original OnePlus Warp Charge adapter and cable without interruption. Warp Charge recognition typically restores on the second cycle once the IC has a baseline reading from the new cell.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — it reads 45%, drops to 12%, then climbs back to 38% within minutes.
Erratic percentage jumps are the fuel gauge IC losing its reference points against the new cell's voltage curve. The stored charge map from the old degraded cell does not match the new cell's discharge profile, so the coulomb counter misreads small voltage changes as large capacity swings. Discharge the phone fully until it shuts itself off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% on standard charging with Warp Charge disabled. After that single full cycle, the gauge IC resets its reference and percentage reporting stabilises.
