Fits Redmi 12 5G smartphone; replaces OEM part number BM5R.
3.87V and 5000mAh capacity sustains the processor, modem, and display under standard and peak loads.
Connector type is standard for Redmi 12 5G; physical orientation and contact alignment match the factory cell slot.
We bench tested this Li-Polymer pack on a Redmi 12 5G motherboard; the BMS accepted the cell on first insertion with no fault codes or voltage cutoff errors.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Redmi 12 5G — 3.87V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BM5R)

This is a 3.87V, 5000mAh Li-Polymer battery carrying OEM part number BM5R. It fits the Redmi 12 5G smartphone. It replaces the original cell when the phone no longer holds a full charge, shuts down unexpectedly, or fails to power on.

  • Redmi 12 5G fit: The BM5R uses the same connector pinout and physical footprint as the factory cell. The BMS communicates over the same data line the phone's charge IC expects, so the system accepts the cell without hardware modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the Redmi 12 5G. The BMS reported correct voltage thresholds at both ends of the curve, and the charge IC accepted USB-PD input without rejecting the session.
  • First-cycle fast charging: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the phone's fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve against the new cell before high-current fast charging pushes elevated current into an uncalibrated state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Redmi 12 5G

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The phone reads 25% but the actual cell voltage has already dropped below what the modem and display need under load. The BMS triggers a protection cutoff before the OS gets a low-battery warning. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the coulomb counter to reset against the new cell's actual curve.

USB-PD fast charge not accepted on the first cycle after replacement

After a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes declines the fast-charge handshake on the first session because the BMS on the new cell has not yet passed a full authentication cycle with the phone's PMIC. This is not a fault with the battery or the charger. Charge once at standard 5W, let the cycle complete fully, then reconnect the fast charger. The handshake succeeds reliably from the second cycle onward.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Redmi 12 5G keeps shutting off around 25% even though the new battery is fully charged — what's causing this?

The coulomb counter in the phone is still mapped to the old cell's discharge curve. At around 25%, the actual cell voltage drops below what the modem and display need under simultaneous load, and the BMS cuts power before the OS can warn you. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the phone. After that single calibration cycle, the fuel gauge reads the new cell correctly and the early shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my Redmi 12 5G is jumping around erratically after I put in the new cell — is something wrong with it?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating its internal model against the new cell's impedance and discharge characteristics, which differ from the degraded cell it was tracking before. The erratic readings are the coulomb counter trying to find stable reference points. Complete one full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle at standard charge rate and the percentage stabilises as the IC locks onto the new cell's curve.

The phone feels warm near the battery while charging after the replacement — is that normal?

A new high-impedance cell generates slightly more heat in the first few charge cycles as the charge IC negotiates current levels against an uncalibrated cell. Surface warmth during charging is expected and decreases after two or three full cycles once the cell's internal resistance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charger drops out repeatedly, check that the charge port is clean and dry and that you are using a USB-PD charger rated at 5V/2A or higher — low-voltage adapters cause the charge IC to draw current inefficiently, increasing heat.
