Fits Xiaomi Redmi A5 4G smartphones; replaces OEM battery part number BP5E.
3.85V nominal, 5100mAh capacity — delivers full system power to processor, modem, and display without voltage sag under load.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with no locking tab; orientation marked on the cell body aligns with the device housing.
We bench-tested this cell in a Redmi A5 4G test unit; the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and held voltage stable through a full discharge cycle.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Redmi A5 4G — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BP5E)

This 3.85V, 5100mAh (19.64Wh) Li-Polymer battery replaces the OEM BP5E cell in the Redmi A5 4G smartphone. It fits the A5 4G directly and restores power to the processor, display, modem, and all onboard functions. Install it when the original cell no longer holds charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly.

  • A5 4G platform fit: The BP5E connector, contact layout, and BMS handshake are specific to the Redmi A5 4G chassis. The replacement cell matches those parameters so the phone's charge IC and fuel gauge IC can communicate with the battery normally.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the A5 4G platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake on the first cycle, and charge current ramped correctly through CC and CV phases without interruption.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current fast charging introduces load the IC hasn't yet measured.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Redmi A5 4G

A new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve than the cell the fuel gauge IC was originally calibrated to. Under modem or display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the IC expects in that 20–30% window, crossing the BMS cutoff threshold while the OS still shows charge remaining. This is a calibration gap, not a faulty cell. One full discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a complete charge at standard rate resets the coulomb counter and closes that gap.

USB fast charge not activating after battery replacement

The A5 4G's charge IC uses a handshake over the USB-PD or proprietary charge protocol to negotiate fast charge current with the connected adapter. On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on the new cell may not respond to that negotiation until it has completed one standard-rate charge cycle from a low state. If fast charging is absent after installation, charge the phone once from below 10% to 100% using the standard brick — not a fast charger. Fast charge negotiation typically resumes from the second cycle onward.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Redmi A5 4G shows the battery percentage jumping around after I put in the new BP5E — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it learned from your old battery, so its coulomb counter gives inaccurate readings against the new cell. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard rate — no fast charging during this cycle. The IC resets its reference points against the new cell and percentage reporting stabilises from that cycle forward.

The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery area while charging the new BP5E — should I stop charging it?

A new Li-Polymer cell typically has slightly higher internal impedance on its first few cycles before the electrode structure settles. The charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance, which generates more heat than you'd see on a broken-in cell. The warmth is normal for the first two to three cycles and reduces as impedance drops. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or if charging stops and an overheat warning appears, remove it from charge and let it cool to room temperature before continuing.

My Redmi A5 4G won't turn on at all after the BP5E sat in a drawer for several months before I installed it — what do I do?

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the BP5E dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell during that period, the BMS locks out all output current as a protection measure. Connect the phone to the original Redmi charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC can often push a trickle charge through the BMS lock at a reduced rate to bring the cell back above the recovery threshold. If the charge indicator LED or screen activates within that window, the cell is recovering; continue charging normally to full before attempting to power on.
