Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Redmi K60 Pro (22127RK46C) — 3.88V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BM5L)
This is a 3.88V, 4800mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Redmi K60 Pro (model 22127RK46C). It replaces OEM part BM5L when the original cell degrades, swells, or no longer holds adequate charge. Installation requires disassembly of the rear panel and adhesive removal — professional fitting is recommended.
- K60 Pro and 22127RK46C fitment: Both model designations refer to the same hardware revision. The BM5L cell uses a matching connector pitch and BMS handshake profile, so the charge IC on the K60 Pro mainboard communicates correctly with the replacement cell from first boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the K60 Pro platform, confirming BMS communication, thermal reporting, and charge IC handshake. The cell accepted charge without fault flags on the second cycle once the fuel gauge IC had data to work from.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% on standard 5V charging. The fuel gauge IC recalibrates its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current fast charging applies load to an uncalibrated cell.
Why the K60 Pro reports wrong battery percentage after a BM5L cell swap
The K60 Pro uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its percentage model from the discharge history of the installed cell. When you replace the cell, the IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded battery. It maps the new cell's voltage curve against a worn reference, so the percentage displayed does not match actual charge state. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete charge to 100% forces the IC to rewrite its reference table against the new cell. Until that cycle completes, percentage readings and time-to-empty estimates will be inaccurate.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% after fitting the BM5L replacement
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still running the old cell's discharge curve and fails to predict the new cell's voltage cliff accurately. Under high-draw loads — 5G modem, sustained screen brightness, or active GPS — the cell voltage drops sharply below 3.5V per cell before the OS receives a low-battery warning. The system shuts down to protect the cell before the percentage reaches zero. Run one full calibration cycle as described above, then check: if shutdowns continue after calibration, measure resting voltage with a meter — a healthy rested BM5L cell should sit above 3.80V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Redmi K60 Pro won't turn on at all after the BM5L battery sat in storage — is it dead?
Most likely the BMS has locked the cell out due to deep discharge below 2.5V per cell, a protection threshold the BM5L's BMS triggers automatically. Connect the phone to a 5V standard charger — not a fast charger — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons. The BMS needs a trickle of current to recover enough voltage to release the lockout and allow normal charging to resume. If the charge indicator appears after that period, the cell is recovering; if nothing appears after 45 minutes on charge, the cell has discharged past recoverable threshold.
Fast charging stopped working immediately after I fitted the replacement BM5L — the phone only slow-charges now.
The K60 Pro's charge IC negotiates the proprietary fast-charge protocol with the BMS on the installed cell. On a brand-new cell with no charge history, the BMS may not complete that handshake on the first cycle, so the charge IC falls back to standard 5V charging as a safe default. Complete one full charge-discharge cycle on standard charging first. On the second charge, plug into the original fast charger — the BMS handshake should complete and fast charging will re-engage. If it does not, confirm the cable supports the required current rating, as a limited cable will block the protocol regardless of BMS state.
The battery percentage on my K60 Pro keeps jumping — it reads 45%, then skips to 31% a few minutes later without heavy use.
Erratic percentage jumps are a fuel gauge IC recalibration issue, not a faulty cell. The coulomb counter is interpolating charge state against the old cell's reference curve and producing large corrections when voltage readings don't match its model. Run one complete uninterrupted discharge cycle — let the phone run on normal use until it shuts itself down automatically, then charge to 100% on standard charging without interruption. After that single cycle, the fuel gauge IC rewrites its discharge curve reference and percentage readings stabilise. Do not top up or interrupt the charge during this calibration cycle.
