This 3.87V, 4800mAh (18.58Wh) lithium-polymer cell replaces the OEM BP4J battery in the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G and related Note 12 5G variants. It fits models 22101316UP and 22101316UCP. The dimensions are 85.70 × 65.30 × 5.70mm — same footprint as the factory cell.

One full slow-charge discharge cycle forces the coulomb counter to recalibrate against the new cell, eliminating the premature cutoff.

USB-PD fast charge not triggering on first cycle after replacement

After a cell swap, the BMS on a freshly installed battery may not complete its handshake with the charge IC on the first plug-in, causing the phone to fall back to standard 5V charging instead of negotiating the higher voltage rail. This is a BMS initialisation state — not a fault with the charger or cable. Fully discharge the phone to auto-shutdown, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% using the original charger. Fast charge negotiation typically restores on the second or third cycle once the BMS has logged a complete charge event.

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to your original battery's internal resistance curve, and the new cell has different impedance — so the percentage reading drifts and the phone hits a voltage cutoff before the OS counts down to zero. Run one complete cycle: discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge slowly to 100% with fast charging disabled. The coulomb counter recalibrates against the new cell during that first full cycle, and the early shutdowns stop.

The phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges after the swap — is that normal?

Yes, and here's why. A new lithium-polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. The charge IC pushes the same current profile it used with the worn original battery, but the new cell dissipates slightly more heat until its impedance settles after a few charge cycles. Keep the phone out of its case for the first three charges so heat can escape. If warmth persists beyond five cycles or the phone triggers a thermal warning, check that the battery connector is fully seated and no adhesive foam is blocking the thermal pad contact.

The battery percentage jumps erratically — showing 60%, then 45%, then 58% — after fitting the replacement cell.

Erratic percentage jumps are a fuel gauge IC recalibration problem, not a defective cell. The IC interpolates state-of-charge from a stored discharge curve that no longer matches the new cell's chemistry behaviour, so the percentage output oscillates as the algorithm corrects itself mid-read.
