Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung SCH-W579 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Samsung SCH-W579 smartphone. It carries a 1000mAh (3.7Wh) capacity, matching the stock specification for this handset. Fits directly into the SCH-W579 battery compartment.

  • SCH-W579 fit: The SCH-W579 uses a compact 3.7V single-cell Li-ion pack with a low-current BMS matched to this phone's charge IC. Swapping to a cell outside that voltage window causes the phone to reject the pack at the connector handshake level.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and load discharge on the bench. The BMS held cutoff voltage cleanly and the charge IC accepted the pack without fault codes on the first cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle before resuming normal use. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated register.

Why the SCH-W579 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The SCH-W579 uses a fuel gauge IC that stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC is still referencing old impedance and capacity data. The percentage shown on screen reflects the old curve, not the new cell's actual state of charge. One full discharge down to auto-shutoff followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter and re-anchors the gauge to the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under modem or display load — a voltage cliff that the fuel gauge didn't predict. The phone's protection circuit reads the sag as a critical low-voltage event and cuts power before the percentage hits zero. The root cause is an uncalibrated fuel gauge mapping a steep-discharge cell as if it were the original. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the gauge IC will recalibrate its cutoff threshold closer to the real 3.0V floor of the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SCH-W579 shuts off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve from the old cell, so it misjudges how much voltage is left when the phone draws hard from the modem or screen. Under that load spike, the voltage dips below the protection threshold and the phone cuts out. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the gauge will recalibrate — the early shutdowns should stop by the third cycle.

The SCH-W579 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it.

A Li-ion cell that sits in storage self-discharges slowly. If the voltage dropped below roughly 2.5V, the BMS locks the pack out to prevent damage, and the phone won't respond to the power button. Connect the charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until the BMS releases the lockout, typically at around 3.0V, after which the phone will boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working on my SCH-W579 after I swapped to this battery — the phone only charges slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC can fall back to trickle or standard charge rates while it measures the new cell's impedance. This is normal behaviour — the IC won't push high current into a cell it hasn't yet characterised. Complete one full standard charge cycle without interrupting it, and the charge IC will re-establish its current profile for the new cell on the next charge.
