Fits SoftBank 940SH, DM005SH, 942SH, and 942SHKT smartphones; replaces OEM part number SHBCR1.
3.7V, 750mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 2.78Wh to power calling, messaging, and standard applications on this device.
Connector slides straight into the original battery slot with no adapter needed; locking tab secures the cell against accidental dislodgement.
Bench testing showed the BMS accepted charge current without delay and voltage held steady through full discharge cycles without early cutoff.
On first charge after installation, disable any fast-charge setting for one complete cycle — the fuel gauge IC needs to recalibrate against this cell's discharge curve before resuming normal charge rates.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SoftBank 940SH Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SHBCR1)

This is a 3.7V Li-ion cell rated at 750mAh (2.78Wh), using OEM part number SHBCR1. It fits the SoftBank 940SH, DM005SH, 942SH, and 942SHKT handsets. Swap it in when the original cell no longer sustains a charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.

  • 940SH series compatibility: These four models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The SHBCR1 cell meets the voltage rail and physical footprint — 38.18 × 37.21 × 5.30mm — that all four require.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a 940SH unit. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the protection circuit triggered correctly at low-voltage cutoff — no thermal events, no rejected charge cycles.
  • First-cycle fuel gauge reset: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its calibration points against the new cell's discharge curve before reporting accurate percentages.

Why the 940SH reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The 940SH uses a fuel gauge IC that builds a charge model from repeated discharge cycles on the original cell. When you install a new cell, that learned model no longer matches the actual discharge curve. The IC reports percentage against stale calibration data, so the number on screen drifts from real capacity. One full uninterrupted discharge from 100% to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge, resets the coulomb counter and aligns the gauge to the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the modem or display draws a current spike the cell cannot sustain at that state of charge. Voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V — faster than the fuel gauge expects, so the phone cuts power before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It is not a faulty cell; it is the gauge reading high while the actual voltage is already at the cliff edge. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the gauge recalibrates — shutdowns at false percentages stop once the coulomb counter tracks the real curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 940SH won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead on arrival?

Almost certainly not. A cell stored at low charge for a long period can drop below 2.5V, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage. The phone won't respond because the protection circuit has disabled output entirely. Plug into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it connected for 30 to 45 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage recovers above 3.0V and the BMS releases the lockout.

The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is something wrong?

This is expected on the first one or two charge cycles with a new cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC pushes more voltage across that resistance, generating more heat than usual. Warmth — not hot — is within normal range. If the phone becomes too hot to hold or the charge IC cuts out mid-cycle, stop charging and check that the connector is fully seated; a partial connection raises contact resistance and amplifies heating.

Fast charging stopped working after fitting the replacement — the phone only trickle charges now.

The proprietary charge protocol on the 940SH requires the BMS to complete a handshake with the charge IC on the first cycle. If that first cycle was interrupted — cable pulled, phone restarted, or charger swapped mid-charge — the IC falls back to standard 500mA input and stays there. Drain the battery fully until the phone shuts off automatically, then connect the original wall adapter and let it charge uninterrupted to 100%. That completes the handshake cycle and restores the higher charge rate.
