Fits Sonim XP10 and XP9900 smartphones, replacing OEM battery part number BAT-05000-01S.
3.85V, 4850mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers the capacity needed for full-day field operations in remote locations.
Connector seats vertically into the XP10 battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side.
Bench testing showed the BMS accepted charge on first insertion; fuel gauge IC required one full discharge-charge cycle for accurate percentage reporting.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without fast charging enabled — this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC to the new cell curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sonim XP10 / XP9900 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BAT-05000-01S)

This is a 3.85V, 4850mAh (18.67Wh) Li-Polymer cell for the Sonim XP10 and XP9900 rugged smartphones. It replaces OEM part BAT-05000-01S and fits the same battery bay without modification. Use it when the original cell no longer holds charge through a full field shift.

  • XP10 and XP9900 compatibility: Both handsets share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 84.80 × 59.90 × 6.00mm cell format matches the original cavity, and the BMS communicates over the same fuel gauge line used by the XP10's Qualcomm power management IC.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the XP10 platform. The BMS accepted the USB-PD charge handshake on the second cycle, and the coulomb counter tracked cell state correctly after one full calibration cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its calibration curve against the new cell before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state. Skip this step and the percentage readout will drift for several days.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Sonim XP10 after a cell swap

The XP10 pulls hard on the battery whenever the LTE modem transmits at full power or the screen brightness peaks. A new cell with an uncalibrated fuel gauge IC can report 25% remaining while the actual resting voltage is already near 3.5V. Under modem load, voltage dips below the BMS cutoff threshold and the phone shuts off. One full discharge-to-3.6V, then a full charge cycle, gives the coulomb counter enough data to anchor its curve correctly.

XP10 not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-Polymer cells shipped or stored for several weeks can drop below 3.0V per cell. The XP10's BMS enters lockout at that voltage to prevent damage, and the phone will show no response — no boot screen, no charging indicator. Connect the device to a wall adapter rated at 5V/2A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The BMS uses a trickle pre-charge stage to bring the cell above 3.0V before allowing normal charge current to flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Sonim XP10 shows 25% battery and then shuts off without warning — is the replacement cell faulty?

This is a voltage cliff, not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it misreads the actual state of charge. Under LTE modem load, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the gauge predicts and the BMS cuts power. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the coulomb counter will re-anchor its curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% stop.

Fast charging stopped working on my XP10 after fitting this battery — the phone only trickle charges now.

On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the XP10's charge IC may not complete the USB-PD handshake with the new BMS. This is normal — the controller defaults to a safe 5V/0.5A rate until it confirms the new cell's parameters. Disconnect the cable, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect. If fast charge still does not engage, complete one full standard charge cycle first; the handshake succeeds reliably from the second cycle onward.

The battery percentage on my XP10 keeps jumping around — it was at 60%, then jumped to 45%, then back to 55%.

The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's impedance profile. The coulomb counter uses accumulated charge and discharge data to correct its model, and for the first two or three cycles that data is incomplete. Percentage jumps of 10–15 points are expected during this window. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles without interruption and the readout will stabilise to within 3–5% accuracy.
