This 10.8V, 4400mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Compaq Business Notebook nc2400, 2400, and 2510p. It matches the voltage rail, connector, and BMS handshake required by these ultraportable business notebooks. OEM part numbers covered include EH768UT, 484784-001, HSTNN-DB22, HSTNN-FB21, and several others in this family.

  • nc2400 and 2510p platform compatibility: These three models share the same 10.8V power rail, identical dock connector pinout, and the same BMS communication protocol — which is why one cell covers all of them. The 2510p uses the same charge circuit as the nc2400, so the EEPROM handshake is identical.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on an nc2400 chassis and confirmed the BMS completed a full charge sequence without flagging a fault. The charge controller accepted the cell and terminated at 100% without an overcharge error.

Why the nc2400 BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't been calibrated against the new cell's actual chemistry. The gauge was trained on the old degraded cell and misreads the voltage curve of a fresh one. Under full CPU and display load, the nc2400 hits a voltage cliff the gauge didn't anticipate and forces an immediate shutdown. Run two or three full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles — by the third cycle the fuel gauge IC tracks the new cell accurately and the early shutdowns stop.

No — this is the fuel gauge IC reporting stale data from the old cell's EEPROM profile. The new cell hasn't been calibrated yet, so the OS reads the mismatch as unknown or zero. Discharge the laptop fully until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one or two full cycles, Windows will display the correct charge level.

The nc2400 BIOS shows 47Wh listed in system info but Windows reports a different Wh figure — which is correct?

The 47.52Wh figure in the BIOS comes from the cell's EEPROM, which stores the rated capacity at manufacture. Windows calculates Wh dynamically from live charge measurements against the fuel gauge IC, and those two sources diverge until the gauge is calibrated to the new cell. Run two full discharge-to-full-charge cycles and the Windows-reported figure will converge toward the EEPROM-rated 47.52Wh.

Charge stops at around 80% and won't go higher — is the charger the problem?

On the nc2400 and 2510p, a BIOS-controlled charge limit can cap charging at 80% — this is a firmware setting, not a fault in the cell or the charger. Check the HP/Compaq battery settings in the BIOS under Power Management and confirm the charge limit is set to 100%. If no limit is set there, run a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff and charge again — the charge controller occasionally holds at 80% on the first cycle with a new cell and completes to 100% on the second.
