Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Business Notebook N1050v Series — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (361742-001)
This is a 14.8V, 4400mAh (65.12Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for HP Business Notebook laptops. It fits the N1050v, NX9040, NX9000, and NX9005 series. It replaces OEM parts including 361742-001, 371785-001, HSTNN-DB13, and F4809A, among others listed above.
- N1050v and NX9000 series compatibility: These four HP Business Notebook lines share the same 14.8V four-cell Li-ion architecture, physical connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell pack covers all of them.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on an N1050v chassis and confirmed the BMS negotiated charge handshake correctly, cells balanced across all four groups, and the pack reached full charge without tripping protection cutoff.
- Post-install discharge cycle on the N1050v: After fitting this battery, run the laptop on battery only until it hibernates from low charge, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The HP BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM, not live cell voltage. When you swap cells, the EEPROM data from the old pack doesn't match the new chemistry, so the BIOS flags it as degraded before a single charge cycle completes. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate then an uninterrupted charge to 100% — this triggers the BIOS learn cycle and rewrites the health register. After two to three full cycles, the reported health status normalises.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on the gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The gauge borrows the old cell's curve, which diverges sharply at lower charge states, so it reads 25% while the cell is already near cutoff voltage. Under full CPU plus display load, the voltage cliff hits faster than the gauge expects, and the system cuts power to protect the cells. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles — the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the shutdowns stop. After calibration, watch for a stable cutoff around 10.5–11V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HP N1050v shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and it never moves — what's wrong?
The BIOS couldn't complete the initial handshake with the replacement cell's EEPROM, so it locked the charge register at zero while still drawing trickle current. Shut the laptop down completely — not hibernate, full power off — remove the AC adapter for 30 seconds, refit it, and boot. This forces the charge controller to re-initialise. If the gauge still reads 0% after one full charge cycle, run the battery learn cycle: discharge to hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100%.
System info shows the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it's reporting a different capacity than what's printed on the pack. Is the battery faulty?
The Wh figure in system info pulls from the EEPROM's stored rated value, not from a live measurement of the new cell. If the EEPROM was written to match a different cell variant in the same family, you'll see a mismatch — often a few Wh off. This is a data discrepancy, not a capacity fault. Run two full discharge-to-charge cycles and the BIOS will update its tracked value to reflect actual measured capacity from the new cell.
The charge stops at 80% and won't go higher on the NX9000 — is this a battery problem?
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault with the replacement cell. HP's battery care mode — enabled by default in some BIOS versions — caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during extended plugged-in use. Go into the BIOS under Power Management or Battery Care Mode and disable the charge limit, or toggle it off in HP Support Assistant if the OS is still functional. Once disabled, the next charge cycle will run to 100%.
