Fits Dell Alienware X14 R1 and R2 laptops; replaces OEM part 0DKNWN.
11.4V 7000mAh lithium-polymer cell matches the original capacity and voltage curve for sustained gaming loads.
Connector seats flat into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested the BMS against full CPU-GPU load cycles; charge acceptance tracked linearly with no early cutoff.
After installation, discharge the laptop fully to hibernation shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the health warning that appears after every cell swap on Dell systems.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Alienware X14 R1 / R2 — 11.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (0DKNWN)

This is an 11.4V 7000mAh (79.8Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Dell Alienware X14 R1 and X14 R2 gaming laptops. It replaces OEM part 0DKNWN and fits the original connector and battery bay without modification. Capacity figures come from product data, not estimates.

  • X14 R1 and R2 share this cell: Both generations use the same 11.4V three-cell Li-Polymer pack, the same connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol over SMBus — which is why one part number covers both chassis revisions.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the 0DKNWN replacement through charge and discharge cycles on the X14 platform. The BMS handshake completed on first connection, charge control engaged correctly, and the fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell data without manual intervention.
  • Post-install discharge cycle on the X14: After fitting this battery, run the laptop on battery only until it hibernates at the low-voltage cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This single discharge-recharge cycle triggers the BIOS battery learn sequence and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on Alienware hardware.

Why the X14 BIOS flags a new battery as poor health

The Alienware BIOS stores battery health data in EEPROM tied to the original cell's charge history. When a new cell connects, the BIOS reads stale EEPROM values and displays a health warning — even though the replacement cell is at full capacity. This is not a fault with the new battery. Running the full discharge-to-hibernate then uninterrupted charge cycle forces the BIOS to reset the learn cycle and write fresh health data from the new cell. After one complete cycle, the health indicator should clear.

X14 shuts down at 20–30% battery remaining after swap

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The gauge reads a residual charge estimate from the old cell's data and hits a mismatch when the new cell's actual voltage drops under sustained CPU and GPU load. The system interprets this as a critical low-voltage event and cuts power before the gauge catches up. Fix it by running two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles back to back — by the second cycle the fuel gauge IC has mapped the new cell's voltage curve and the reported percentage will track accurately down to the true low cutoff near 10.5V.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dell Command shows this battery as "Unknown" right after I installed it — did I get a faulty unit?

No — this is an EEPROM mismatch, not a fault. The Dell battery subsystem reads health and identification data written by the original cell; a fresh replacement has no matching history in that store. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That learn cycle writes the new cell's data to the BIOS and clears the Unknown status.

The Alienware X14 shows 79.8Wh in one place but a different Wh number in Dell Command Power Manager — why?

Dell Command reads the Wh rating stored in the battery's EEPROM, which is set at the factory and reflects the original cell's rated chemistry. The 79.8Wh figure in our product data is the actual measured capacity of the replacement cell. These two numbers come from different sources and will not always match. The discrepancy does not affect charging or discharge behaviour — the BMS manages cutoffs by voltage, not by the Wh value shown in software.

New battery won't charge above 80% on the X14 R1 — is the cell defective?

Almost certainly not. Dell's BIOS includes a charge limit feature called "Conservation Mode" that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. It is enabled by default on many Alienware units and survives a battery swap because the setting lives in firmware, not in the battery. Open Dell Command | Power Manager, go to the Battery tab, and switch the charge mode from "Primarily AC" or "Conservation" to "Standard" — this raises the charge ceiling back to 100%.
