Fits HP Elite Folio 13.5 inch 2-in-1 convertible laptops; replaces OEM part numbers HSTNN-OB1U, M07389-AC1, M07392-005, MA04046XL, MA04XL.
7.7V, 6150mAh Li-Polymer delivers 47.36Wh capacity matching original specifications for standard work sessions.
Connector seats flush into the primary battery slot; tab locks downward; no adapter required.
We ran full discharge-to-cutoff cycles on the Elite Folio platform; BMS responded normally, voltage curve stable under mixed CPU and display loads.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%—this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings that appear after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Elite Folio 13.5 inch 2-in-1 — 7.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HSTNN-OB1U)

This 7.7V, 6150mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the original cell in the HP Elite Folio 13.5 inch 2-in-1 convertible. It fits across OEM part numbers HSTNN-OB1U, M07389-AC1, M07392-005, MA04046XL, and MA04XL. Capacity is rated at 47.36Wh, matching the original specification for this device.

  • Elite Folio 13.5 2-in-1 compatibility: All five OEM part numbers listed above share the same 7.7V voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The Elite Folio uses a single battery configuration regardless of whether the unit was sold in laptop or tablet orientation mode — one cell covers both use cases.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the Elite Folio platform. The BMS handshake completed without fault codes, and the charge controller accepted the cell without triggering a protection cutoff or unknown-device flag.
  • Post-install calibration on the Elite Folio: After fitting this cell, run the battery down to the point where the system hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that nearly every replacement cell triggers on first boot.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after replacement

The Elite Folio's BIOS reads health data from the EEPROM embedded in the old cell. When a new cell goes in, that EEPROM data does not transfer — the BIOS has no prior cycle history to reference, so it flags the battery as degraded or unknown. This is a firmware read issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge gives the BIOS enough data to rewrite its internal battery learn table. After one to three cycles, the health indicator updates to reflect actual cell condition.

Laptop shutting down with 20–30% charge still showing on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC calibration has not yet aligned to the new cell's discharge curve. The original cell and the replacement do not have identical internal resistance profiles, so the fuel gauge misjudges the voltage cliff — it reads 25% remaining but the cell is already at a voltage the BMS treats as cutoff under load. The fix is to complete two to three full discharge and charge cycles without interruption. After calibration cycles complete, the reported percentage at shutdown should stabilise above 5%, confirming the fuel gauge IC is tracking the correct curve for this cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

The HP Elite Folio shows the replacement battery as "0%" or "unknown" in Windows — is the cell dead?

The cell is not dead. The EEPROM on the old battery stored cycle history and health data that Windows and the BIOS used as a reference point — the new cell has none of that stored data yet. Windows reads this absence as an unknown or failed device on first boot. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the BIOS battery learn cycle will write fresh baseline data. After that cycle completes, the percentage and health status will update correctly.

Why does the Elite Folio's battery meter jump around erratically for the first few charges after fitting this cell?

The fuel gauge IC on the Elite Folio's motherboard calibrates itself against the discharge curve of whatever cell is installed. A new cell has a different internal resistance profile than the worn cell it replaced, so the IC is initially estimating against the wrong curve. The reported percentage will swing — sometimes dropping 10% in seconds, then recovering — until the IC recalibrates. Complete two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted-charge cycles, and the fuel gauge will lock onto the correct curve for this cell.

The system info on my Elite Folio shows the wrong Wh rating after fitting this battery — it doesn't match 47.36Wh. Is something wrong?

The Wh figure displayed in HP's battery diagnostic tools or Windows Device Manager is pulled from the cell's EEPROM — it reflects the rated capacity encoded at the factory, which may differ slightly from the actual measured chemistry of the replacement cell. This is a data-reporting difference, not a fault. The cell will charge and discharge correctly regardless of what the EEPROM reports. If you need to verify actual capacity, run a full discharge cycle and check the mWh figure logged in a third-party tool such as BatteryInfoView against the rated 47.36Wh.
