Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec0020ng — 11.55V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PG03XL)
This is an 11.55V, 4500mAh (51.98Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for the HP Pavilion Gaming 15 series. It fits the Pavilion Gaming 15-ec0020ng and over 150 compatible models sharing the same connector and BMS handshake, including the 15-DK0397NIA and 15-DK1037TX. OEM part numbers covered include PG03XL, PG03052XL, HSTNN-DB9G, L48430-AC1, and L48485-005.
- Pavilion Gaming 15 platform fit: These models share a three-cell Li-Polymer architecture, the same 11.55V nominal rail, and an identical BMS handshake. The EEPROM on this cell carries the correct capacity data so the HP firmware recognises it without throwing an unknown-device flag at POST.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge-discharge cycle on a 15-ec series unit. The BMS engaged charge termination cleanly at 12.6V and discharge cutoff held at the expected low-cell threshold without tripping a premature protection event under CPU and display load.
- Post-install calibration on the Pavilion Gaming 15: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This clears the stale EEPROM state the firmware carried from the old cell and resets the BIOS battery learn cycle — without it, the health indicator will read inaccurate for weeks.
Pavilion Gaming 15 shutting down at 20–30% after battery swap
This is a voltage-cliff failure, not a capacity problem. Under combined CPU boost and full display backload, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC has learned to anticipate. The BIOS sees a sudden voltage drop below its cutoff threshold and shuts the system down even though the state-of-charge reading still shows charge remaining. Running two or three full calibration cycles teaches the fuel gauge IC the actual discharge curve of the new cell. After calibration, the gauge tracks accurately and the premature cutoff stops.
BIOS reporting wrong Wh rating after cell replacement
HP's firmware reads the Wh rating directly from the cell's EEPROM, not from a live measurement. If the value displayed in HP Support Assistant or Device Manager doesn't match 51.98Wh, the BIOS hasn't refreshed its cached battery data yet. Force a full charge-discharge cycle and reboot. The firmware re-reads EEPROM on the next cold boot and the correct 51.98Wh figure should populate in system info.

Frequently Asked Questions
The HP Pavilion Gaming 15 shows "Battery health: poor" in HP Support Assistant right after fitting the new cell — is it actually faulty?
No. HP Support Assistant pulls health data from the EEPROM state written by the old cell, not from the new one. The firmware hasn't run a learn cycle against the replacement yet, so it flags the mismatch as poor health. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle completes, reboot and the health status will re-read from the correct EEPROM data.
The battery percentage on the Pavilion Gaming 15 is jumping around wildly — showing 60%, then suddenly 45%, then back to 55% — what's happening?
The fuel gauge IC is still calibrating against the new cell's discharge curve. It was tuned to the old cell's internal resistance and capacity profile, so early readings are unreliable. This settles after two to three full charge-discharge cycles as the IC maps the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement. Run those cycles without interrupting mid-charge, and the gauge will stabilise.
New battery fitted, but the Pavilion Gaming 15 won't charge above 80% — is the cell defective?
This is almost always the BIOS charge-limit setting, not a cell fault. HP laptops ship with an optional charge-limit feature that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress — if this was enabled on the previous battery, the setting persists after a swap. Open HP Command Center or HP OMEN Gaming Hub, navigate to Battery Health Manager, and set the charge mode to "Maximum Charge." The cell will then charge to the full 12.6V termination point.
