Fits KDS 671, 671DP, 671XH, and 681 notebooks; replaces DR202, EMC36, ME202BB, NL2020, and SMP02 battery packs.
This 10.8V 6600mAh cell delivers 71.28Wh — matches the original capacity and restores full charge cycles on KDS platforms without voltage sag.
Connector matches the OEM slot; locking tab seats flush against the battery bay frame with no force required on insertion.
We ran the pack through full discharge and recharge cycles on a KDS 671DP; the BMS reported stable voltage delivery under sustained CPU and display load.
After installation, run one complete discharge cycle to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

KDS 671 / 671DP / 671XH Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DR202)

This is a 10.8V, 6600mAh (71.28Wh) lithium-ion battery for KDS 671, 671DP, 671XH, 681, and related notebook models. It replaces OEM part numbers DR202, EMC36, ME202BB, NL2020, and SMP02. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the laptop dies faster than expected under normal use.

  • 671 series compatibility: The 671, 671DP, 671XH, and 681 share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits the whole group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge runs and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the system board — charge acceptance, cutoff thresholds, and protection circuits all responded as expected.
  • First-cycle reset after install: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge down to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Why the 671 reports poor battery health immediately after a cell swap

The BIOS reads capacity and health data from EEPROM registers carried over from the old cell. A new cell arrives with different stored values, so the BIOS flags it as degraded before a single charge cycle runs. This is not a fault with the replacement — it is a mismatch between what the firmware remembers and what the new chemistry reports. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate then a complete charge clears the stale EEPROM data and lets the system re-learn the cell's actual capacity.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on the gauge

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The IC maps an old voltage profile to percentage, so it reads 25% while the cell is already at its low-voltage cutoff. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops sharply — the BMS cuts power before the gauge catches up. Two or three full discharge-to-100% charge cycles re-calibrate the IC. After calibration, the cutoff aligns with the gauge at or below 5%.

Frequently Asked Questions

The KDS 671 is showing the new battery as "unknown" or 0% in Windows right after I installed it — is the cell dead?

The cell is not dead. The fuel gauge IC is reading stale EEPROM data left over from the old battery and has not yet mapped the new cell's voltage curve. Run the laptop on battery until it hibernates from low charge, then charge it straight to 100% without interruption. After one or two of those full cycles, the OS gauge will display an accurate percentage.

My 671 keeps cutting out while I'm running heavy applications even though the gauge says 30% left — what's happening?

Under full CPU plus display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can track. The BMS hits its low-voltage cutoff before the gauge registers the drop, so the laptop shuts off while the display still shows charge remaining. This is a calibration gap, not a faulty cell. Complete three uninterrupted full discharge-to-hibernate and full charge cycles to re-align the IC's voltage map — after that, the gauge and cutoff will track together at or below 5%.

System information is showing the wrong Wh rating for the new battery — it's reporting a different number than 71.28Wh. Should I be concerned?

The Wh figure in system info is pulled from the EEPROM data the BIOS reads, which may still hold the rated value from the original cell's firmware rather than the replacement cell's actual chemistry. This is a data read difference, not a capacity problem — the cell still delivers its full 6600mAh at 10.8V. After running the BIOS battery learn cycle (one full discharge to hibernate, then a complete charge to 100%), the reported Wh value will update to reflect the new cell.
