Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Olivetti Xtrema 423S ME202BB — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DR202)
This is a 10.8V Li-ion battery rated at 6600mAh (71.28Wh), built to replace the original DR202 cell in the Olivetti Xtrema 423S ME202BB notebook. It fits into the same bay and connects via the same multi-pin connector as the factory pack. Cross-reference part numbers include EMC36, ME202BB, NL2020, and SMP02.
- Xtrema 423S platform fit: These part numbers share the same 10.8V three-cell-series configuration, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — so the BIOS recognises the replacement pack the same way it recognised the original.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge, full discharge to cutoff, and a second charge pass while monitoring BMS communication. The protection circuit held charge termination correctly and did not trigger premature cutoff under simulated CPU and display load.
- Post-install calibration on the Xtrema 423S: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting the DR202
The Xtrema 423S BIOS reads health data stored in the old cell's EEPROM before any calibration has occurred on the new pack. The replacement cell arrives with default EEPROM values that do not match the laptop's stored charge history, so the BIOS flags it as degraded. This is not a fault with the battery. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100% — after that cycle, the BIOS rewrites its battery learn data against the new cell's actual chemistry.
Olivetti Xtrema 423S shutting down at around 20–30% charge shown
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's discharge curve. The gauge underestimates remaining capacity, and when reported voltage drops below the BIOS low-battery threshold — typically around 10.0V under load — the laptop forces a shutdown even though the display still shows charge remaining. Run two full discharge-to-cutoff cycles back-to-back without interrupting the charge phase. After two cycles the fuel gauge IC anchors its empty-point correctly and shutdowns at false percentages stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Olivetti Xtrema 423S shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and never moves off that reading — what's happening?
The BIOS has not yet written a valid charge profile to the replacement cell's EEPROM, so it reports 0% until the learn cycle completes. Plug in the AC adapter and leave the laptop to charge completely without interruption — do not wake, sleep, or restart it during this first charge. Once it reaches 100% and the charge LED goes solid, unplug and discharge fully to hibernate-cutoff. After that single cycle the gauge re-anchors and the 0% reading clears.
Windows says the DR202 replacement has a lower Wh rating than the original pack — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong. The Wh figure Windows displays is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery's BMS chip, and the value stored there reflects the cell chemistry's rated specification, not a live measurement. The actual usable capacity of this pack is 71.28Wh at 10.8V — identical to the original DR202 spec. After one full calibration cycle the reported figure in Windows power settings will align more closely with the real cell data.
The replacement battery on the Xtrema 423S stops charging at around 80% and the charge LED goes out — is the charger at fault?
The charger is not at fault. The Xtrema 423S BIOS includes a charge-limit firmware setting that caps charging at 80% when battery conservation mode is active — this is a BIOS-level control, not a battery fault. Open the Olivetti power management utility or check BIOS under the Power menu and look for a battery charge threshold or conservation mode option. Disable it, then plug in — the pack will charge to 100%.
