Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sager NP8955(P955ER) / NP8973(P970EN) Series — 15.2V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery
This 15.2V lithium-polymer battery delivers 3550mAh (53.96Wh) of capacity for the Sager NP8955(P955ER) and related Clevo-platform gaming laptops. It fits the NP8955(P955ER), NP8973(P970EN), NP8961(P960ED), NP8977(P070RF), and twelve additional models in this Clevo chassis family. Voltage, cell count, and connector match the original pack specification.
- Clevo P9xx platform compatibility: These models share a common Clevo OEM chassis with the same 4-cell 15.2V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one cell fits across all listed variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a P955ER chassis. The BMS handshake completed on first boot, charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity, and the protection circuit tripped as expected under over-discharge conditions.
- Post-swap calibration on the Clevo platform: After installing, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The Clevo BIOS reads health data stored in the battery pack's EEPROM and compares it against accumulated cycle history. A brand-new cell carries factory EEPROM values the BIOS hasn't yet validated against real charge cycles on this system. Until the learn cycle runs, the BIOS flags health as poor or unknown — this is a firmware read issue, not a defective battery. Run two full charge-discharge cycles and the BIOS health indicator will update to reflect actual cell condition.
Laptop shuts down abruptly when the OS shows 20–30% remaining
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge estimates remaining charge based on the old cell's discharge profile, so it reports 25% while the real voltage has already dropped to the protection cutoff threshold. The BMS cuts power to prevent cell damage before the OS reads zero. Force a full discharge to hibernate, then a full uninterrupted charge to 100%, repeating twice — after that the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the reported percentage tracks the actual cell voltage accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Sager NP8955 BIOS says the new battery is at 0% health — is the cell dead already?
No — the BIOS is reading stale EEPROM data from the previous pack and hasn't validated the new cell yet. This is a calibration gap, not a battery fault. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and repeat once more. After two complete cycles the BIOS health reading will update to reflect the new cell's actual condition.
Windows Battery Report shows a different Wh rating than the 53.96Wh listed on the product page — why?
The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from the battery pack's EEPROM, which stores the rated capacity programmed at the factory. If the EEPROM value from our cell's firmware differs slightly from what the old pack reported, Windows will show a different number in the report. This does not affect how the cell charges or discharges — cross-check by letting the laptop run on battery and confirming it holds a charge normally rather than relying on the reported Wh figure alone.
The charge stops at 80% and never reaches 100% on my NP8973 — is there a fault with the cell?
This is almost always the BIOS battery charge limit setting, not a problem with the cell itself. Clevo firmware includes a charge threshold feature — sometimes enabled by default or carried over from a previous OS configuration — that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Go into the Clevo Control Center application or the BIOS power settings, locate the battery charge limit or threshold option, and set it to 100%.
