Fits Samsung SENS PRO 525, SENS PRO 522, SENS PRO 524, and SENS PRO 523 notebooks; replaces OEM part numbers DR36 and DR36S.
This 12V Ni-MH cell delivers 3800mAh capacity, restoring full charge cycles to aging laptops that won't hold power between outlets.
Connector slides straight into the battery bay with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reversed installation.
We bench-tested this cell in a SENS PRO 525 and confirmed the BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion with no fault codes.
After installation, discharge the laptop fully to sleep mode, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears phantom low-health warnings that appear after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung SENS PRO 525 Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (DR36)

This is a 12V, 3800mAh (45.6Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for the Samsung SENS PRO 522, 523, 524, and 525 notebooks. It slots into the same bay as the original DR36 and DR36S cells. Fit the battery, close the latch, and the laptop powers on without an AC adapter.

  • SENS PRO 522–525 compatibility: All four models share the same 12V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake tied to the DR36 part number. Swapping between them requires no adapter or wiring change.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on the SENS PRO platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity.
  • First-cycle conditioning on Ni-MH: After installing, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at low charge, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. Ni-MH cells in this voltage class can develop voltage depression if cycled shallow early — one full discharge-to-charge sequence at the start prevents this and lets the BIOS battery learn cycle recalibrate against the new cell.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacing the DR36

The SENS PRO BIOS stores charge history and health data from the previous cell in its battery learn table. When a new cell goes in, that old data still sits in memory, so the BIOS flags the replacement as degraded before it has seen a single full cycle. This is not a fault with the new battery. Run one complete discharge-to-hibernate then charge uninterrupted to 100% — the BIOS resets its learn cycle against the new cell's actual curve and the health warning clears.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

The fuel gauge IC calibrates its empty-point estimate against charge data from the old cell. After a swap, it often places the cutoff threshold too high, cutting power while usable capacity remains. The cell itself is not failing — the gauge is reading against a stale reference curve. Run two to three full discharge-to-charge cycles without interruption. By the third cycle the fuel gauge IC recalculates its curve against the DR36 cell and the shutdown point drops back to the correct range near 0–5%.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SENS PRO BIOS shows the new battery as "unknown" or 0% — is the cell faulty?

No. The BIOS carries EEPROM data from the old cell and flags any replacement as unknown until it completes a learn cycle. Power the laptop on battery until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interrupting the session. One complete cycle rewrites the learn table against the new DR36 cell. After that, the BIOS reads state of charge correctly.

Windows shows the wrong Wh rating in battery report after I swapped the cell — it says something different from 45.6Wh.

The Wh figure Windows pulls comes from EEPROM data embedded in the old cell's controller, not a live measurement. The new DR36 cell reports its rated chemistry value, which may differ from what the aging original cell had drifted to over years of use. Run the battery learn cycle — discharge to hibernate, charge fully to 100% — and Windows will recalculate design capacity against the new cell. Check the updated figure in a fresh battery report after two full cycles.

The replacement battery charges to 100% on the first cycle but capacity drops noticeably after three or four cycles — what's happening?

This is voltage depression, a known behaviour in Ni-MH cells cycled shallow before the chemistry stabilises. If the first few cycles were short — laptop plugged in before reaching low charge — the cell builds a false memory effect that compresses usable capacity. Discharge fully to hibernate-cutoff at least twice in a row, then charge uninterrupted each time. That breaks the depression pattern and restores the cell to its rated 3800mAh output.
