Fits Systemax N243 and N244 series laptops, replacing OEM part numbers 23-U74201-31, 23-U74204-00, 23-U74204-10, 23-UB0201-20, 23-UD3202-00, 243-4S4400-S2M1, UN243, UN243S, UN243S1-T, UN243S8, UN243S8-P, and BAT-243S1.
14.8V, 4400mAh (65.12Wh) lithium-ion cell restores full charge cycles to worn or failed original packs in N243/N244 systems.
Connector seats flush into the battery bay slot with positive contact pins aligned; locking tab clips down toward the keyboard to secure the pack.
We bench-tested this cell across three charge cycles on an N243 motherboard; BMS accepted the handshake on first insertion, voltage held steady under sustained load.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Systemax N243 / N244 Series — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (23-U74201-31)

This is a 14.8V, 4400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Systemax N243 and N244 series notebooks. It replaces OEM part numbers including 23-U74201-31, UN243, and BAT-243S1. Capacity is 65.12Wh — matching the original cell specification.

  • N243 and N244 series compatibility: Both series share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The same 4-cell Li-ion pack at 14.8V nominal powers both platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on compatible hardware. The BMS negotiated correctly, charge termination triggered at full capacity, and the protection circuit responded normally to load spikes during CPU stress testing.
  • First-cycle reset after installation: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement

The BIOS stores charge history and health data from the old cell in its firmware registers. When a new cell is installed, those registers still reflect the degraded state of the previous battery. The system reads that cached data and flags poor health — not the new cell's actual condition. Running one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge clears the learned data and forces the BIOS to recalibrate against the new cell's actual capacity.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on the gauge

This is a fuel gauge calibration fault, not a hardware failure. The fuel gauge IC is still referencing discharge curves from the old, degraded cell and predicts voltage collapse too early. Under full CPU and display load, it triggers a shutdown before the gauge reaches zero because its model no longer matches the new cell's actual discharge profile. Complete two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted-charge cycles — after that the IC recalibrates and the gauge will track accurately down to the real cutoff voltage of 11.1V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Systemax N243 shows 0% or "plugged in, not charging" right after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?

The BIOS has cached charge state data from the old cell and hasn't recognised the new one yet. Remove the AC adapter, let the laptop run on battery until it hibernates, then plug in and charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single learn cycle is usually enough for the BIOS to re-register the cell and resume normal charging behaviour.

Windows is showing the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says something different from 65.12Wh. Is the battery faulty?

It isn't a fault. The Wh figure Windows reads comes from the EEPROM data embedded in the battery's BMS, and that value is set at the factory against the rated chemistry specification. After one or two full calibration cycles the reported figure typically converges closer to the actual 65.12Wh. If it stays significantly off after three cycles, check Device Manager for any ACPI battery driver errors and reinstall the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery driver.

The fuel gauge on my N243 jumps around wildly — 60% one minute, 35% the next. Why?

The fuel gauge IC calibrates itself against a cell's actual discharge curve over the first few cycles. With a fresh cell it has no reference data yet, so the readings are unstable. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by full uninterrupted charges. By the third cycle the IC builds an accurate model of the new cell and the gauge stabilises. If the jumping continues past five cycles, reseat the battery connector to rule out an intermittent contact issue.
