Fits Ingenico RP457 and RP457C payment terminals replacing OEM part number AHB474736B.
Voltage is 3.7V, capacity 250mAh — supplies the display, wireless modem, and receipt printer during transaction processing.
Connector is a single-pin JST-style plug with keyed orientation; tab locks into the battery slot on the terminal motherboard.
We bench tested this cell on an RP457 simulator rig; BMS accepted handshake on first boot, no fault codes or early cutoff observed.
After installation, run one complete transaction cycle including printing before deploying in a live terminal — the device calibrates battery capacity during normal operation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ingenico RP457 / RP457C — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AHB474736B)

This is a 3.7V, 250mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Ingenico RP457 and RP457C mobile point-of-sale terminals. It matches the OEM part number AHB474736B and fits the original battery compartment directly. If your terminal is shutting down unexpectedly or no longer holding a charge, this is the cell that needs replacing.

  • RP457 and RP457C compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The AHB474736B cell is the correct fit for either variant — no adapter or wiring modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the RP457's charge IC and confirmed the BMS handshake completes cleanly. The terminal accepted the battery, passed its internal voltage check, and held a stable charge curve through a full cycle.
  • First deployment tip: After installation, run one complete transaction cycle before putting the terminal into a live environment. The RP457 maps battery capacity during normal operation — at least one full power cycle is required for the charge indicator to read accurately.

Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap

The RP457's BMS monitors current draw continuously. When the receipt printer motor fires or the wireless radio spikes, current demand jumps sharply for a fraction of a second. On a degraded or newly installed cell that hasn't completed a calibration cycle, the BMS can interpret this spike as an overcurrent event and cut power. The fix is to complete several normal transaction cycles before live deployment — this allows the BMS to learn the cell's actual discharge curve and set its trip thresholds correctly. If reboots continue after five full cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated and the contact pins are clean.

Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after sitting unused

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge slowly over time. If the RP457 has been stored in a drawer for several weeks or months, the cell voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V for this chemistry. At that point, the terminal either won't power on at all or stalls partway through the PCI boot sequence. Connect the terminal to its dock or USB-C charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charge LED doesn't activate within five minutes of connecting the charger, the cell may be below the recovery floor and will need a replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RP457 keeps rebooting right when a card transaction goes through — is the new battery faulty?

Almost certainly not a faulty cell. The receipt printer motor and wireless radio fire simultaneously during a transaction, which creates a brief current spike. If the BMS hasn't completed a calibration cycle yet, it can trip on that spike and cut power. Run five complete transaction cycles off live sales first, then redeploy — the BMS sets its overcurrent thresholds based on observed discharge behaviour, and it needs real cycles to do that accurately.

The charge indicator on my RP457 has been stuck at 99% since I installed the new battery — should I be concerned?

No. This is normal behaviour for a new Li-Polymer cell. The terminal's charge IC switches to top-off mode when the cell approaches full voltage, which can cause the indicator to sit at 99% for an extended period on the first charge. Let the terminal charge uninterrupted until the LED changes state or the indicator moves, then run a full discharge-to-charge cycle. After one complete cycle, the gauge should track normally.

My RP457 won't power on at all after replacing the battery — the screen stays blank even when plugged in.

Check the battery connector first — the AHB474736B uses a small ribbon-style connector, and it only takes a slight misalignment to break the circuit. Reseat it firmly and try again. If the terminal still won't respond, leave it on charge for 30 minutes before pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to pre-condition the cell before the terminal's main board will accept a boot command. If the charge LED doesn't activate within five minutes of connecting power, disconnect and reseat the battery connector one more time.
