Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

KAP ELSE eS-KAP-Ad VR / ESKAPAD — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (KAPACC0084090)
This 3.7V 950mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the KAP ELSE eS-KAP-Ad VR and ESKAPAD payment terminals. It matches the OEM part number KAPACC0084090 and fits the original battery bay without modification. Capacity is 950mAh (3.52Wh), sourced to match the original cell specification.
- eS-KAP-Ad VR and ESKAPAD compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — 46.20 × 34.14 × 5.68mm cell with a 3.7V nominal rail. One replacement covers either unit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge, a PCI boot sequence, and a transaction loop. The BMS accepted the cell on first handshake, voltage held steady under combined display, wireless, and printer draw, and no overcurrent trips were recorded.
- First-use calibration on payment terminals: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before deploying in a live environment. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.
Terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap
The eS-KAP-Ad VR draws a combined load from the display, wireless radio, and receipt printer motor at the point of sale. On a new or partially discharged cell, this simultaneous draw can spike current above the BMS overcurrent threshold, triggering a protective shutdown that looks like a random reboot. The fix is to complete a full charge cycle before first live use — the BMS recalibrates its trip threshold after the cell's first complete charge. If reboots continue, check that the battery contacts are fully seated; a loose connection raises internal resistance and worsens voltage sag under load.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery installation
The KAP ELSE eS-KAP-Ad VR runs a PCI security boot check on every power-on, and that sequence draws a short high-current burst to initialise tamper detection and the secure element. A new cell that has not yet completed one full charge-discharge cycle may sit just below the voltage threshold the BMS requires to release full current for that burst — the terminal stalls or loops at the boot screen. Plug the terminal into the charger until it reads a full charge, then power it on fresh. One complete boot-charge cycle is enough for the BMS to accept normal operating conditions; the sequence will complete at 4.1V or above.

Frequently Asked Questions
My eS-KAP-Ad VR shows 99% charge and won't move off that reading — is the new battery faulty?
No — this is the charge IC holding the new cell in top-off mode. When a fresh Li-ion cell first connects, the charge controller trickle-charges to confirm the cell is stable before committing to a full reading. Leave the terminal on charge for an additional 20–30 minutes without interruption, then power-cycle it. The indicator will drop to an accurate state-of-charge reading once the top-off phase completes.
My terminal has been sitting unused in a drawer for a few months and now won't power on at all — is the battery dead?
Li-ion cells self-discharge over time, and if the eS-KAP-Ad VR sat long enough, the cell voltage may have dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically under 2.5V — which causes the BMS to lock out discharge to prevent cell damage. Connect the terminal to its charger and leave it for a full hour before attempting to power it on. If the charging indicator does not appear within 10 minutes, try a different charging cable; a marginal cable may not deliver enough current to wake the BMS from deep-discharge lockout.
The terminal feels noticeably warm after a busy transaction period — is that a battery problem?
Warmth during heavy use is a combined load effect, not a battery fault in isolation. The eS-KAP-Ad VR runs the display, wireless radio, and printer motor simultaneously during peak transaction periods, and all three draw from the same 3.7V cell — heat is a normal byproduct of that sustained current. If the terminal becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or shuts down under load, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact, as increased contact resistance raises heat further. A surface temperature that stays below roughly 40°C during normal use is within spec.
