VeriFone VX600BT — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BPK087-201-01-A)

This 3.7V 1350mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the VeriFone VX600BT and VX600 Bluetooth mobile payment terminal. It also fits the MPM-100 and standard VX600 variants that share the same battery bay and connector. Capacity is 1350mAh (5Wh) — matched to the OEM specification.

  • VX600 and MPM-100 compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V battery rail, physical connector, and BMS handshake protocol. The terminal's charge IC reads cell chemistry and capacity data from the same register across all variants, so one battery fits the entire VX600 family.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge cycles on a VX600BT unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags, the charge IC moved through CC/CV phases correctly, and the terminal reached a stable resting voltage of 4.18V at full charge.
  • First deployment tip for POS terminals: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle — including a receipt print — before putting the terminal into live service. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

When the VX600BT processes a sale, the receipt printer and wireless radio draw current simultaneously. On a new cell that hasn't completed its first full charge cycle, this combined current spike can trip the BMS overcurrent protection, cutting power momentarily. The terminal interprets that as a power loss and reboots. Charge the battery fully before first deployment and run one complete transaction to let the BMS calibrate its overcurrent threshold against real load.

Li-ion cells self-discharge over time. If the VX600BT sits unused for several months, the cell voltage can drop below 3.0V — the point where the BMS locks the output to protect the cell from permanent damage. The terminal will show no response when the power button is pressed. Connect the original charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes without pressing any button; the charge IC will trickle-charge the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 3.2V, before switching to normal CC charging.

My VX600BT charge indicator has been stuck at 99% since I put the new battery in — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. When a new Li-ion cell is first charged, the terminal's charge IC enters a top-off phase that holds the display near full while it slowly pushes the cell to its true maximum voltage. This is normal charge-IC behaviour on a fresh cell, not a fault. Run the terminal through a full discharge and recharge cycle and the indicator will track accurately after that.

The VX600BT shows a low battery warning immediately after I install the replacement — it was just charged before I swapped it in.

The terminal reads cell state-of-charge through the BMS register, not just voltage. A new cell that hasn't completed a full boot-charge cycle in this specific terminal will often report inaccurate capacity data until the charge IC calibrates it. Connect the charger, let the terminal charge to 100% uninterrupted, then power cycle it once. The low battery warning will clear once the charge IC has written correct capacity data to the register.

The VX600BT gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is the battery safe?

Warmth is expected when the display, receipt printer, and wireless radio all draw current at the same time. The combined load on a 1350mAh cell during peak transaction bursts generates heat at the cell and at the charge IC. As long as the terminal isn't too hot to hold, this is within normal operating range for this battery size. If the terminal feels burning hot or shuts off with a thermal warning, move it away from direct sunlight or enclosed spaces where heat cannot dissipate.
