This 3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the VeriFone VX675 and VX690 mobile payment terminals. It also fits the C680 and C680 3G-BT-WiFi variants. Swap it in when the original battery no longer holds enough charge to get through a full shift of transactions.

  • VX675 and VX690 platform fit: These terminals share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one cell covers both. The BPK265-001 form factor locks into both chassis without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the VX675 boot sequence, ran multiple card transaction simulations, and triggered the receipt printer motor to confirm the BMS does not trip on the combined draw. Voltage held stable across the load transitions.
  • First deployment cycle: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle — including a receipt print — before deploying in a live environment. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap

The receipt printer motor draws a sharp current spike at the moment it fires — on a fresh cell, the BMS interprets this as an overcurrent event and cuts power momentarily, which triggers a reboot. This happens most often in the first few cycles before the BMS has profiled the cell's internal resistance. Running two or three full transaction-plus-print cycles lets the BMS establish accurate current limits. After that, the mid-transaction reboot stops.

Terminal not powering on after sitting unused in a drawer

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If a terminal sits unused for several months, the cell voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V — and the BMS locks out to prevent damage. The fix is to connect the terminal to its dock or USB charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charger delivers a low-current pre-charge that brings the cell above the lock-out threshold, after which the terminal will boot normally.

My VX675 shows 99% battery and stays there for the first hour of charging — is the new battery faulty?

No — this is normal behaviour on a fresh cell. The terminal's charge IC enters a top-off mode when it detects a new cell, holding the display at 99% while it applies a low trickle current to bring the cell to true full charge. It clears after one complete charge-discharge cycle. Run the terminal through a full shift, let it charge overnight, and the indicator will track normally from that point.

The terminal completes the VeriFone logo screen but hangs before reaching the payment application — what is causing this?

This is a BMS handshake timing issue. On first install, the terminal's PCI boot sequence queries the battery's protection circuit before loading the payment application. If the BMS has not yet accepted the new cell, the handshake stalls and the boot sequence stops. Connect the terminal to its charging dock, let it sit powered on for a full charge cycle without interrupting it, then reboot. The BMS will have completed its initialisation and the payment application will load.

The terminal gets noticeably warm during a busy sales period — is the battery safe to keep using?

Warmth during heavy use is expected. The VX675 runs its display, wireless radio, and receipt printer simultaneously during peak transaction periods, and the combined draw generates heat at the cell. As long as the terminal does not shut itself down or display a temperature warning, the battery is operating within normal limits. If the terminal does shut down, let it cool for five minutes and check that the battery contacts are fully seated — a loose contact increases resistance and raises heat at the connection point.
