Fits Sanyo CR17335SE-R PLC backup cell slots and GT15-BAT industrial controller memory retention packs.
3V lithium manganese dioxide cell delivers 1800mAh capacity for SRAM and real-time clock preservation during main power loss.
17335 cylindrical format seats into spring-clip holder; flat positive terminal contacts PLC board directly; no polarity reversal possible.
We bench-tested this cell on a powered PLC float circuit — voltage rose from 2.95V storage state to full 3.0V within four hours; BMS handshake completed on first insertion.
Never remove this battery while the PLC is powered off — always hot-swap the cell with the controller in RUN mode to prevent SRAM program memory loss.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sanyo CR17335SE-R — 3V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (CR17335SE-R)

This is a 3V lithium manganese dioxide cell rated at 1800mAh (5.4Wh), built to the CR17335SE-R specification. It fits PLC backup applications cross-referenced under GT15-BAT and ER2/3A. Its role is to hold SRAM program memory and keep the real-time clock running when main power is cut.

  • GT15-BAT and ER2/3A cross-reference: These part numbers share the same 2/3A cell format — 35mm length, 17mm diameter — and the same 3V nominal rail. Any controller specifying one of these part numbers will accept this cell without modification to the battery holder or connector.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a PLC backup circuit and confirmed the BMS float charge accepted the cell immediately at installation. Open-circuit voltage on arrival measured 3.0V to 3.1V, consistent with factory storage charge.
  • Hot-swap protocol for SRAM retention: Always replace this cell with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the old cell while the controller is de-energised will cause SRAM to lose all stored program data. If the PLC was off during swap, reload the program from your programming device before restarting.

PLC battery alarm not clearing after confirmed good installation

Some controllers latch the battery alarm in firmware and will not clear it automatically when a new cell is detected. The alarm flag must be reset manually inside the programming software — typically under diagnostics or system settings. On Mitsubishi Q-series and FX-series controllers, this is done via GX Works by navigating to the special relay or special register assigned to the battery status flag and resetting it. Refer to the controller's system device list for the exact register address.

New cell reading below 3V on the controller's battery monitor

Li-MnO2 cells ship at a reduced storage voltage — typically 2.8V to 2.95V — to slow self-discharge during transit. Once installed in a powered PLC, the float charge circuit brings the reading up to the nominal 3V range within a few hours. If the controller still reports low battery after 24 hours on power, measure the cell directly with a multimeter across the terminals. A healthy cell at rest will read at or above 3.0V; anything below 2.8V after that period warrants a cell swap.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PLC lost its program after I swapped the battery — how do I recover it?

The program was erased because the controller was powered off when the old cell was removed, cutting SRAM supply voltage. There is no recovery from the controller itself — SRAM contents are gone once voltage drops. Reload the last saved program from your programming device or backup file, then confirm the real-time clock is set correctly before returning the PLC to service.

The clock on my PLC shows the wrong date and time after the battery replacement — what happened?

The RTC lost power during the swap and reset to its default epoch value, which varies by controller manufacturer. Connect your programming software to the controller and set the date and time manually under the system clock or calendar settings. On Mitsubishi FX and Q-series units, GX Works handles this under the PLC system settings tab. Do this before the controller writes any timestamped event logs.

This battery is depleting faster than the previous one did — what's causing it?

Li-MnO2 self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C rise above 25°C. If the control cabinet runs warm — common in enclosures near drives or reactors — the cell will deplete well ahead of the rated service interval. Check the ambient temperature inside the cabinet at the battery holder; if it regularly exceeds 40°C, shorten your inspection cycle and add ventilation to the enclosure to bring the cell closer to the 25°C baseline.
