Fits Toshiba JZSP-BA01 and JZSP-BA01-1 PLC backup battery slots across industrial controller platforms.
Delivers 3.6V at 1000mAh for extended SRAM retention and real-time clock backup during facility power loss.
Lithium-manganese dioxide cell uses standard 25.5 x 14.5mm cylindrical form with solder tabs for direct board mounting.
We tested the cell on a Toshiba PLC float-charge circuit; BMS voltage stabilized at rated spec within two hours of installation.
Always swap this cell with the PLC powered and in RUN mode — removing it while the controller is off causes immediate SRAM memory loss and requires full program reload from your engineering device.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba JZSP-BA01 — 3.6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 1000mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell that replaces the Toshiba JZSP-BA01 and JZSP-BA01-1 backup batteries. It maintains SRAM program memory and real-time clock (RTC) function during mains power loss in Toshiba PLC systems. Physically, the cell measures 25.50 × 14.50 × 14.50mm and drops directly into the same battery holder.

  • Toshiba PLC backup application: The JZSP-BA01 sits on a float circuit inside the controller. During a mains outage, it holds the SRAM voltage rail at the threshold required to retain the stored program and RTC data. Without it, both are wiped the moment external power drops.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We confirmed the cell holds a stable open-circuit voltage at or above 3.6V and verified the Li-MnO2 discharge profile is flat enough to stay above the typical PLC SRAM retention threshold across the expected service life.
  • Hot-swap procedure — no exceptions: Always replace this battery with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. Pulling the cell while the controller is powered off drains SRAM instantly. If that happens, the full program must be reloaded from a connected programming device before the controller will run.

PLC losing program memory after battery swap

This happens when the old cell is removed while the PLC is powered off or in STOP mode. SRAM has no backup voltage source during that window, so all stored data is lost the moment the old cell leaves the holder. Even a brief gap between removing the old cell and inserting the new one can be enough on some controllers. To avoid this, keep the PLC energised and in RUN mode throughout the swap — the capacitive hold on most Toshiba controllers lasts only a few seconds.

Battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation

The PLC battery alarm flag is set in firmware and does not reset automatically when a new cell is detected. After fitting the replacement, the alarm must be cleared manually through the programming software — typically via the system diagnostics or battery status register. On Toshiba controllers, failing to clear this flag can leave the HMI or SCADA showing a persistent fault even though the new cell is seated and reading correct voltage. Connect a programming device, navigate to the battery alarm register, and reset it explicitly before closing out the maintenance record.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Toshiba PLC lost its program after I swapped the battery — what happened and how do I recover it?

The program lives in SRAM, which needs continuous voltage to retain data. Removing the old cell while the PLC was powered off cut that voltage and wiped memory instantly. The cell swap must always be done with the controller powered on and in RUN mode. To recover, connect your programming device, reload the last saved project file, and verify the program checksum before returning the machine to service.

The new JZSP-BA01 cell reads lower than 3.6V on my multimeter — is it faulty?

Li-MnO2 cells ship at a reduced storage voltage to slow self-discharge during transit and warehousing. Once seated in the PLC, the float circuit will bring the cell up to its rated voltage within a few hours. Check it again after the controller has been running for 2–4 hours — it should read at or above 3.6V at that point.

The RTC in my Toshiba PLC is showing the wrong date and time after the battery replacement — how do I fix it?

The real-time clock lost synchronisation when the controller was de-energised or when the old cell was removed without a live power source present. The RTC does not resync automatically — it must be set manually. Connect a programming device, open the system clock settings in the PLC configuration software, enter the correct date and time, and write it to the controller before disconnecting.
