Fits Brother RJ-2030, RJ-2050, RJ-2140, RJ-2150 portable printers; replaces OEM part number PA-BT-003.
7.4V, 2600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers stable voltage to thermal print head and paper feed motor during field operations.
Connector seats into vertical slot on printer rear; locking tab clicks down; no polarity reversal possible on Brother platform.
We bench-tested this cell on RJ-2030 under sustained thermal head draw; BMS voltage regulation held flat through 80% discharge before cutoff.
After installing, charge fully and print five test receipts before field deployment—thermal head requires stable voltage confirmation from new cell BMS profile.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Brother RJ-2030 / RJ-2150 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PA-BT-003)

This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Brother RJ-2030, RJ-2050, RJ-2140, and RJ-2150 mobile thermal printers. It slots directly into the same battery bay as the original PA-BT-003 and connects to the same BMS handshake circuit. Voltage and cell chemistry match OEM spec.

  • RJ-2030 to RJ-2150 platform fit: All four models run on the same 7.4V rail and use the same PA-BT-003 connector and BMS communication protocol. A single battery revision covers the full RJ-20 series without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in an RJ-2030 and monitored the BMS through a full charge cycle and a thermal print sequence. The protection circuit held voltage within spec across paper feed motor bursts and thermal head pulses with no cutoff events.
  • First-deploy print sequence: After installing this battery, charge it fully, then print five test receipts before field deployment. The RJ-series paper feed motor calibrates current draw against the BMS profile — skipping this step can cause the printer to flag a false low-battery warning on first use.

Bluetooth dropping mid-job on the RJ-2030

The RJ-2030 runs its Bluetooth radio and thermal head on the same 7.4V cell. When battery charge falls below roughly 6.8V under load, the radio power supply sags first — the printer appears connected in the app but drops the job silently. This is not a firmware bug. The thermal head draws a current spike during each print line, and if the cell cannot sustain voltage through that spike, the radio loses enough power to drop the link. Keeping charge above 50% before starting multi-page jobs prevents this.

Faded or uneven print lines on a new battery

Faded print on a fresh battery usually points to the thermal head not reaching target temperature, not a head fault. The RJ-series head requires a stable voltage supply to hold temperature across a full receipt — voltage variation from a poorly conditioned cell causes the head to undershoot in spots. Run the five-receipt calibration sequence after the first full charge to let the BMS settle its discharge curve. If banding persists after conditioning, check head density settings in the Brother print utility before assuming a hardware fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RJ-2030 won't print after sitting in a van for three weeks — is the battery dead or just flat?

Likely just deep-discharged, not dead. After extended storage, Li-ion cells can drop below the BMS minimum re-engagement threshold, which prevents the printer from powering on normally. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 90 minutes before attempting to power on — the BMS needs time to trickle-charge the cell back above 6.0V before it will allow a full charge cycle to begin. If the charge indicator stays dark past two hours, the cell has likely dropped below recovery threshold.

The paper feed is jamming on this battery but worked fine with the old one — what's wrong?

Paper feed jams on a new battery usually mean the cell hasn't been through a conditioning cycle yet. The feed motor on the RJ-2030 requires consistent torque, and a fresh Li-ion cell can have an uneven discharge curve until the BMS has logged two or three full cycles. Print five full-page test receipts on a complete charge before field use. If jamming continues after conditioning, check the paper roll is seated flush — motor torque is calibrated for correctly loaded media.

The printer connects fine but the app shows a battery error immediately after I install the new cell — what clears it?

This is a BMS initialisation flag, not a fault with the battery. The RJ-series firmware reads the charge state from the BMS on startup, and a new cell at partial charge can return a state-of-charge value the printer interprets as an error. Charge the battery to 100% with the printer off, then power on fresh — the BMS re-registers its full capacity reference and the error clears. If the warning persists after a full charge cycle, reset the printer to factory defaults via the Brother utility tool.
