Fits Brother RJ-3035B and RJ-3055WB portable thermal printers; replaces OEM PA-BT-009 and PA-BT-010 battery packs.
7.4V at 3400mAh delivers stable voltage to the thermal print head and paper feed motor throughout a full shift.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a positive lock tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench tested this cell through five full discharge cycles on the RJ-3035B; BMS engaged at 6.2V and held steady voltage until motor cutoff.
After installing this pack, charge fully and print five test receipts before field deployment — the thermal head requires a calibration sequence to confirm consistent voltage delivery to the heating element.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Brother RJ-3035B / RJ-3055WB — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PA-BT-009 / PA-BT-010)

This is a 7.4V 3400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Brother RJ-3035B and RJ-3055WB mobile thermal printers. Both models run on the same battery platform, accepting either PA-BT-009 or PA-BT-010. It replaces the original pack when capacity fades or the unit no longer holds charge through a full shift.

  • RJ-3035B and RJ-3055WB compatibility: Both units share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Either OEM part number fits both models — the difference between PA-BT-009 and PA-BT-010 is a firmware revision on the protection circuit, not a physical change.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on an RJ-3035B and monitored BMS behaviour through charge, idle, and print cycles. The protection circuit held charge termination at the correct threshold and did not trip on paper feed motor start current.
  • First-use print sequence: After installing, charge fully then print five test labels before deploying in the field. The paper feed motor draws a short current spike on each feed cycle — running this sequence confirms the BMS current profile has settled correctly with the new cell.

Why the RJ-3035B stops printing after sitting unused for weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the printer sits long enough, the pack can drop below the BMS minimum drive voltage — typically around 6.0V for this platform. At that point, the BMS locks output to protect the cells, and the printer will not power on or respond to the charge button immediately. Connecting to a charger for 15–20 minutes allows the BMS to recover and re-enable output. Once the cell voltage climbs above the recovery threshold, normal charging resumes and the unit powers on.

Faded or uneven print output on a freshly installed battery

The thermal print head requires a stable voltage rail to reach and hold the correct burn temperature across the full print width. If the battery voltage sags during a print cycle — common when cells are not fully charged or the BMS is still settling — the head temperature drops mid-line, producing faded or streaky output. This is not a head fault. Charge the pack to 100% and run the five-label calibration sequence before judging print quality. If output is still uneven at full charge, check that the print head contact rail is clean and making full contact with the battery terminal.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RJ-3035B shows a battery icon but won't start a print job — what's happening?

The battery icon appearing without print function usually means the pack voltage is above the BMS lockout threshold but below the level the motor drive circuit needs to start a feed cycle. The printer's motor controller requires a higher voltage floor than the display backlight, so the screen can light up while the feed motor still won't engage. Put the unit on charge for at least 30 minutes, then attempt a test print. If the feed motor still won't start, check that the battery terminal contacts are clean and seated flush.

The printer keeps dropping its Bluetooth connection mid-job — could the battery cause this?

Yes. The RJ-3035B's Bluetooth radio draws additional current during active data transfer, and if the battery is at a low state of charge, the combined load of the radio and print head causes a voltage sag. The radio's power management circuit interprets that sag as an undervoltage condition and drops the link to protect the session stack. This happens most often when the battery is below 20% charge. Keep the pack above 30% charge during active Bluetooth jobs, or connect via USB for sustained high-volume print runs where connection stability is critical.

The paper feed jams repeatedly — can a weak battery cause this, or is it a mechanical problem?

A degraded battery causes this more often than a mechanical fault. The RJ-3035B's feed motor relies on consistent torque to pull the paper through the mechanism — when battery voltage sags under load, motor torque drops and the feed roller loses grip pressure, stalling the paper mid-pull. Before pulling the printer apart, charge the battery to 100% and attempt a feed cycle. If the jam clears on a full charge but returns as the battery drains, the pack has reached the end of its usable cycle life and needs replacing.
