Shipping calculated at checkout.
Fits Black & Decker BDCDD12, BDCD112, and BDCDD12KB compact drills; replaces OEM part LBXR1512.
12V and 1500mAh capacity deliver consistent power for fastening and drilling in light construction without voltage sag.
Connector slides straight into the pack slot with positive terminal first; locking tab seats flush against the drill housing.
We bench-tested this cell on motor inrush load — the BMS held steady through trigger pull spikes without nuisance cutoff.
On first use with the BDCDD12, run the tool at half trigger for two cycles before full-torque fastening; allows the BMS to calibrate motor current thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Black & Decker BDCDD12 Series — 12V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LBXR1512)

This 12V 1500mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the LBXR1512 pack on the Black & Decker BDCDD12, BDCD112, BDCDD12KB, and BDCDD12K compact drill/drivers. It slots into the same battery bay and connects to the same charging contacts as the factory pack. Capacity is 1500mAh (18Wh) — matched to the original specification.

  • BDCDD12 platform compatibility: These models share the same 12V slide-rail connector, contact layout, and BMS communication protocol. A replacement pack built to LBXR1512 spec works across the series without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a BDCDD12 under repeated trigger pulls. The BMS handled motor-start inrush current without tripping, and cell voltage recovered cleanly between draws.
  • Break-in load protocol: On first use, run the drill at half load for two cycles before full-torque applications. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current draw and set overcurrent thresholds accurately before you push the tool hard.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush with the BDCDD12

When you pull the trigger on a compact drill, the motor draws a brief inrush spike — often three to five times the running current. On a new or freshly charged pack, the BMS overcurrent threshold may not yet be calibrated to the motor's actual draw profile. If the spike exceeds the default threshold, the BMS trips and cuts output before the drill reaches full speed. Running two half-load break-in cycles teaches the BMS the motor's real inrush curve and raises the trip point accordingly.

Charger not recognising the new pack after storage

Li-ion cells shipped or stored for several months can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage — typically around 2.5V per cell. The BDCDD12 charger checks cell voltage before beginning the charge cycle, and if it reads below threshold, it blinks an error and won't start. Insert the pack into the tool and pull the trigger briefly to draw a small load — this can nudge the cells above the acceptance floor. Then re-seat the pack in the charger; the indicator should shift to solid charging within 30 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BDCDD12 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a tough screw — then works again a second later. What's happening?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip caused by motor-start inrush. The brief current spike when the motor fires can exceed the BMS protection threshold, especially on a new pack that hasn't profiled the motor yet. Run the drill at half load for two full cycles to let the BMS recalibrate its overcurrent limit to the actual motor draw. After that, the trip on trigger pull should stop.

The drill feels weak and bogs down mid-hole even though the battery shows charged. Why?

Voltage sag under load is the cause. When cell internal resistance rises — from age, shallow cycling, or a cold environment — the voltage rail drops the moment the motor demands current, and the drill loses torque. Check that the battery contacts on both the pack and the drill body are clean and making firm contact, since high rail resistance amplifies sag. If the pack is below 5°C, bring it to room temperature first; Li-ion internal resistance increases sharply in the cold and sag gets worse.

This battery fades noticeably after only a few months of light use. Is that normal for the BDCDD12 pack?

Repeated shallow cycling — topping off the pack after every short use without fully discharging it — accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells. The BMS tracks partial state-of-charge cycles, and over time the cells lose their ability to hold the full 1500mAh. Let the pack drain to the tool's low-voltage cutoff before recharging, and do this at least once every 10 cycles to keep the BMS state-of-charge calibration accurate. Full-depth cycles slow the fade rate and restore more consistent torque output across the charge window.
