Fits Black & Decker BDCDD12, BDCD112, and BDCDD12KB compact drills; replaces OEM battery LBXR1512.
12V 2500mAh lithium-ion pack delivers 30Wh for drilling, fastening, and light construction work.
Connector slides onto the tool's slide-lock rails and seats fully until the tab clicks; remove by pressing the release button on the pack side.
We bench-tested this cell against a stock BDCDD12 charger; BMS engaged normally on first insert with no cutoff delays, and voltage sag stayed within spec under sustained load.
On first use with the BDCDD12 drill, run the motor at half trigger for two cycles before full-torque fastening — allows the BMS to profile motor inrush current before locking overcurrent protection thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Black & Decker BDCDD12 Series — 12V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LBXR1512)

This is a 12V 2500mAh Li-ion replacement battery pack for the Black & Decker BDCDD12 compact drill/driver series. It fits multiple models including the BDCD112, BDCDD12KB, and BDCDD12K. Voltage, connector, and BMS communication match the original pack.

  • BDCDD12 platform compatibility: These models share the same 12V battery rail, slide-in connector, and BMS handshake protocol. The same pack works across BDCDD12, BDCD112, BDCDD12KB, and BDCDD12K without any adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through trigger-pull cycles on a BDCDD12 and monitored the BMS under repeated motor-start inrush. The overcurrent protection responded within spec, and the pack held its voltage rail through sustained fastening sequences.
  • Motor inrush break-in: On first use, run the drill at half load for two cycles before applying maximum torque. This lets the BMS profile the motor inrush current draw before it finalises overcurrent protection thresholds — reducing the chance of a nuisance trip on hard starts.

BMS cutoff on BDCDD12 motor-start inrush surge

When you pull the trigger hard into a tough fastener, the motor draws a sharp current spike before it reaches operating speed. On a 12V pack, this inrush can briefly exceed 15–20A. If the BMS has not yet profiled the motor load — or if the cells are cold — it reads the spike as an overcurrent fault and cuts the output rail. The tool goes dead mid-use, then recovers after a second or two once the BMS resets.

Charger blinking red and refusing to accept the new pack

Li-ion packs that have sat in storage can drop below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 9V on a 12V pack. The charger sees the low cell voltage and flags it as a fault rather than starting a charge cycle. Remove the pack, wait 60 seconds, and re-seat it firmly to trigger a fresh handshake. If the charger still blinks red, check that each cell group is above 2.5V using a multimeter at the pack terminals before concluding the pack is faulty.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BDCDD12 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger hard — then comes back a second later. What's happening?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip caused by motor-start inrush current. The spike when the motor first turns under load briefly exceeds the BMS threshold, so it cuts the output rail as a protection measure. It resets automatically once the current drops back. Run two light-load cycles first to let the BMS profile the inrush draw, then try the hard application again.

The drill feels weak and bogs down when I drive a screw — it worked fine on the first few holes. Is the battery failing?

Voltage sag under load is the likely cause, not a dead battery. As cell temperature rises during sustained use, internal resistance increases and the pack voltage drops under the motor's current draw. Check that the battery contacts on both the pack and the drill are clean and making full contact — oxidised or dirty rails increase resistance and make sag worse. Let the pack cool for 10 minutes between heavy sessions to keep cell temperature below the point where sag becomes noticeable.

The drill runs normally indoors but loses power and feels sluggish in a cold garage — same battery, same screws. Why?

Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces the current the pack can deliver without sagging. The BDCDD12's 12V rail is sensitive to this because there is less voltage headroom than larger packs. Bring the battery indoors and let it reach room temperature — roughly 18–20°C — before use. A warmed pack will recover full output immediately without any charge cycle needed.
