Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Einhell BT-CD 10.8/1 Li — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-CD 10.8/4 Li)
This is a 10.8V, 1500mAh lithium-ion replacement battery for the Einhell BT-CD 10.8/1 Li and BT-CD 10.8/4 Li compact cordless drill/drivers. It slots into the same battery bay and connects via the same slide-rail contact system as the original pack. Capacity is rated at 1500mAh (16.2Wh) — matched to the original specification.
- BT-CD 10.8/1 Li and BT-CD 10.8/4 Li fit: Both models share the same 10.8V slide-rail platform, battery bay dimensions, and BMS communication handshake — one pack works across both without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated trigger-pull events on a BT-CD 10.8 chassis. The BMS held overcurrent thresholds stable across motor-start inrush spikes without tripping into protection mode under normal drill and driver loads.
- Motor-start conditioning on first use: Run the drill at half load — light drilling in wood or plastic — for the first two charge cycles before applying full torque. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature and set overcurrent thresholds accurately for your specific unit.
BMS cutoff on trigger-pull inrush surge in the BT-CD 10.8
The BT-CD 10.8 motor draws a spike of current the instant the trigger closes — this inrush can be three to five times the steady running current. A new pack's BMS starts with conservative overcurrent thresholds and may interpret that spike as a fault. After two to three full charge-discharge cycles, the BMS recalibrates those thresholds against the actual motor behaviour. If cutouts continue beyond the break-in period, check the battery rail contacts for oxidation — resistance at the contact point amplifies the apparent voltage sag the BMS sees.
Charger not recognising the pack after it has been in storage
Li-ion cells that have self-discharged below approximately 2.5V per cell will fall outside the voltage window most chargers use to verify a valid pack — the charger rejects the battery rather than risk charging a deeply discharged cell unsafely. On the Einhell 10.8V system, this shows as the charger LED blinking without entering a charge cycle. Insert the pack, wait 60 seconds, then remove and reinsert — some chargers will attempt a low-current recovery pulse on the second connection. If the charger still rejects it after two attempts, the cells have dropped below recoverable voltage, typically under 8.0V total pack voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Einhell BT-CD 10.8 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on hard material — is the battery faulty?
This is almost always a BMS overcurrent trip, not a defective cell. The motor draws a sharp inrush spike when the trigger closes, and a new pack's BMS may flag that spike as a fault before it has learned the motor's current profile. Run the drill at light load — soft wood, plastic — for two full charge cycles and the BMS will recalibrate its thresholds. If cutouts persist after break-in, clean the battery rail contacts with a dry cloth and check for any oxidation adding resistance to the connection.
The drill feels sluggish and bogs down under load even with a freshly charged battery — what causes that?
Bogging under load points to voltage sag — the pack voltage drops under current draw faster than it should. On a 10.8V Li-ion pack, the most common cause is elevated internal resistance from repeated shallow cycling, where the battery is topped up after only light use rather than run through a full discharge. The BMS then sees a healthy resting voltage but the cells can't hold that voltage under motor load. Run the pack down until the drill slows noticeably before recharging, and check that the slide-rail contacts are fully seated — a partial connection adds external resistance that worsens sag.
Does cold weather affect how the BT-CD 10.8 battery performs on site in winter?
Yes — Li-ion internal resistance rises significantly below 5°C, which reduces how much current the cells can deliver before the BMS triggers a low-voltage cutoff. The pack may read fully charged on a warm charger but cut out quickly once the tool is used outside in cold air. Store the battery indoors until you're ready to work, and start with light drilling for the first few minutes to let the cells warm from their own discharge heat. At temperatures below 0°C, expect noticeably reduced output — this is a chemistry limitation, not a fault with the pack.
